Landslide LYRICS
I took my love, I took it down
I climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
'Til the landslide brought me down
Oh, mirror in the sky
What is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changin' ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
Mmm mmm I don't know
Mmm mmm, mmm mmm
Well, I've been afraid of changin'
'Cause I built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I'm getting older, too
Oh, I'm getting older, too
So take this love, take it down
If you climb a mountain and you turn around
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
the landslide will bring you down down
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well maybe the landslide will bring you down
Well well, the landslide will bring you down - Hudba
OH MY GOODNESS, this is a day I will remember for the rest of my life. I am a beginner Uk player, this is the third song I've learned, and it is one of my MOST favorite songs of my whole LIFE. I know I will enjoy playing this for the rest of my life. THANK YOU!
For anyone confused about the low sound of the top (G) string, she mentions at 4:57 that she's using a low-G stringing of her ukulele.
here's an explanation of what that means for beginners: of the ukulele's 4 strings G C E A, the G can be tuned either high (more common) or low (less common). some people choose to use low G because it gives the uke more range on the low side and makes it a bit more deep or "guitar" sounding. most of Cynthia's tutorials are in high G but a few of the recent ones are low G. If you're new, I recommend starting with high G and her earlier tutorials before moving into low G (e.g. this song), only because it would be better to get a sense of the "standard" ukulele sound before moving outside of it. most smaller ukulele's are strung with high-G and usually only the larger uke's are strung low, but re-stringing is something you can do yourself or a ukulele tuner can do it for you.
Thank you o much for this information
:)
THANK YOU. I've only been playing for a few months, and that totally threw me off!
omg that was driving me crazy
I almost didn’t watch this tutorial after hearing your beautiful rendition of it at the beginning because I’m a super beginner and thought it would be over my head. But you broke it down and made it so easy to follow along and now I’m super excited to learn it with simple strumming so I can enjoy singling it. 💕💕💕
I've actually folloed your tutorials for YEARS ❤🧡💛 and absolutely ADORE You and your teaching 💫 THANK YOU for all you do. Mahalo nui loa 🌺🌙
Seriously? Who gave this a thumbs down? I'd like to know the basis for it. I haven't seen Cynthia do a bad tute. Thanks Cynthia. Lovely tutorial and you have a beautiful voice.
Oh my gosh! Thank you Cynthia!!! This is my favorite song!! I just started playing the uk about a month ago, and I learned everything from YOU! Thank you!!!!
Great fun to play and sing Thank you, Cynthia
I just found your channel and your amazing! Not only are u an amazing singer and ukulele player but u are so beautiful❤️ Thank you for making this
I wish i had a music teacher like you when i showed so much potential as a child but they focused on my disrupted behavior instead and i spent most of my school years in a class room closet, my hands getting hit with a wooden ruler and my ass getting paddled just for talking to the kid next to me, and my family wonders why i am so distant from humans.I taught myself to play guitar and now i have a love for the uke, i can never give you what you deserve for giving me happiness with your gentile wonderful teaching of this beautiful wood wonder.
Thank you so much! This is a wonderful tutorial, perfectly paced - it's as if you're right there, watching and encouraging my every move.
There's this song that I've heard finger picked on the ukulele called River Flows in You. I've heard somebody make some very beautiful lyrics for the Twilight movie that goes with this song and it's absolutely beautiful and I so want to learn how to play the song on my ukulele. But I've only been playing the ukulele for a few months and I haven't been able to find any good tutorials that really breaks down the song and shows me one pattern at a time because it's one thing to just read the tabs but it's another when you don't know the exact Rhythm to the song and you need someone that already knows it well to teach you. I hope that maybe in the future you can give us a ukulele tutorial for River Flows In You. I know that I would greatly appreciate it. I truly do enjoy your ukulele tutorials. I've learned a lot in the past six months I've been playing. And I keep getting better and better thanks to all of you ukulele teachers out there.
Thanks so much for this tutorial. It was very helpful for me, and I just did a cover on this song. Although I didn't end up following your tutorial 100%, it was a good foundation for me. I used a low g string as well. I love your tutorials and I always look forward to new ones. I have only been playing for a year learning mainly from CZcams and without your tutorials I wouldn't be moving at the learning pace I am 😊
Thank you beauty-ful Cynthia. I had been looking for a creative outlet for some time, intuitively I bought a Uke and then found you. The way you teach is easy, fun and comfortable, and I practice each day many times. I super love this song, Landslide, and truly appreciate your tutorials 🙏🧡

I love playing this song! Thank you for sharing this video and teaching me how! Would you happen to want to do a tutorial for "Bless the Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts? Thanks! Keep up the awesomeness!
you are so nice! thank you!!
Excellent
Love your version and tutorial of this song! Thank you!
Thank you! I'm going to try this
I did it, and my cover of this song is up now on my channel . I didn't end up following your tutorial 100%, but it was a good foundation to follow from. Thanks again xox 😘
Love this one. Thank you!! I would love to see you do "Heart's Content" Brandi Carlile!
Just to be clear the low G is actually a different string to the one used in a conventional high G.....you have to fit a low G string to your Uke.....not just tune the existing string low. Aquila low G’s are red Inthink...........Also uke tuners won’t show you a low G and you may have to buy a tuner for a 6 or 8 string Uke.....Korg make the one I bought....
Great tutorial......great song...
Thanks Greg; I was just about to ask about that...
What a wonderful singing voice?
Pleaaase do ultralife by oh wonder! I'm sure you can make a great version
I've been wanting to learn finger style. Still consider myself a beginner. Waiting for January1 to join. You make it easy but yes need to just sit and train my fingers to learn this style.

Beautiful! Ive just purchased a Ukulele, and really appreciate your help with learning how to play. Can someone recommend a good starter song to learn? Thank you
I have a problem with changing the chords, my hands are maybe sticky and when i take my finger off the string it makes a sound which is frustrating
This is amazing and you’re beautiful :)

Can you please do sleepwalk by Santo and Johnny I haven't seen many tutorials that help me learn this song and I really want to play it
Also PLEASE can you do a tutorial for picking Brahm's Lullaby? (I think its C, G, G7, F so simple chords, but I cant work out the picking order and there are NO tutorial videos! :)
Can u please please please do an American pie tutorial? I've been trying to find a good one but none are as good as your tutorials!
Hi I just got a ukelele for my birthday a week ago and I have been learning so much from your channel! You are an excellent teacher and make learning ukelele so much fun! :) I was just wondering, did you tune your open G string to a G3 pitch instead of a G4 pitch? When i'm doing the picking exercise your string sounds lower than mine. Would really appreciate if you could clarify this for me when you get the chance. Thanks! :)
Did you get an answer?
puppygirl25 she mentions in the video that she's using her low G strings instead of regular. Hope that helps :)
Yes, I replayed and noticed that. Now I just need to learn what low G is. :D Thank you for your help!
of the ukulele's 4 strings G C E A, the G can be tuned either high (more common) or low (less common). the low G adds more range on the low side and makes it a bit more "guitar" sounding. most of Cynthia's tutorials are in high G but a few of the recent ones are low G. I recommend starting with high G and her earlier tutorials before moving into low G, only because it would be better to get a sense of the "standard" ukulele sound before moving outside of it.
Most all soprano ukes come with high G sting (that'e the very top string if you are right handed). A low G substitutes that particular string with an octave lower string. That is mostly found in "larger" scale ukes like Tenor, or Concert sizes. BTW, that "G" string is identified as string number 4 (String number 1 is the highest note "A"). Another way of naming a low G uke is a "linear tuned uke" because the notes from strings 4,3,2,1 go from low to high. Not the case with a high G uke.
thank you for the free pdf :)
Great tutorial! And voice! We just posted a cover of this song!
Can you do Bruce Springsteen - Dancing In The Dark?
Great!! But...Please!! The XO tutorial! I love that song!!
Cynthia, I just love you tutorials! I am always learning something new! But my question: Please explain the picture on the wall behind you. I keep staring at it but I can't figure it out!!! Thanks!
Thanks for the landslide tutorial. I have the chords down, but my fingers feel uncomfortable when I try to pick. I look at you and it seems simple, my fingers not so much. I will keep practicing and understand 1 324, I have trouble with my fingers staying responsible for the correct strings. Regards Ira from n.j
Don't feel bad, Ira. My fingers have trouble with their string responsibility as well! It will come with time.
Thanks. I hope so.
She uses the low g ukulele
Ira Wiss if it helps I use the same finger for the middle two strings. Less fingers to worry about. I'm quicker that way.
Can you make a tutorial with the ukulele chords for the ku'u lei melodi from miki mouse ?
Beautiful. Thank you for teaching us this song.. One of my favorites😊do you have any recommendations on a good low g uke? Thanks again!
Lindsay Wilson Hi! You just buy a low G string and replace your high G string with it. 😊
Awesome, thanks!
Can you do No Rain by Blind Melon??
Ooooo yes
You should do playing in the sand by tally hall
Hi love your lesson on landslide! One thing though, if you can call out chords so I don’t have to look and fingerpick. That would help me lots… do others think that will help them?
Please do Santo and Johnny sleepwalk tutorial please 😭
ok day 3 nailed it i only but ill keep playing it
You make everything sound good
i have fat fingers and its hard to pick with all my fingers on the strings at one time. Ive found its a lot easier to pick the one an two strings with my thumb and the three and four with pointer. just incase someone else is struggling with that.
Is your first string tuned to high g? is sounds much lower than my first string
Can you do Iris by GooGoo Dolls please!!!
I get a lot of "sliding sound" (as in the sound of my finger sliding againt the string) when I do the finger pick, unless I turn my hand perpindicular to the strings when I pick, I get this sound. Any advice?
The low g is a totally different string that needs to be changed out. The high g is a much smaller diameter than the low g. You can see on Cynthia's uke that the g is a thicker string.
What type of Ukulele are you using? Concert, soprano, etc?
ok day 2 is not going so well but ill keep it going xD
