    Excellent review! I purchased one of these back in November and have not been disappointed. The detail really is amazing, and no video camera can do it justice. This is a really well-done model. It has a proper "heavy freight steamer" look to it, and whether is hauling a long line of cars or just sitting still, it pulls views. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking about purchasing one!

  • @NicksCollectableCreations

    The cab figures are very nice, but that whistle cord really sets it apart in terms of detail that stands out. Very nice touch.

    I've brought the Sänta Fe 4-8-4 #3751 and like it so much that I turn around and brought one of the 2-10-2. I'm a modern day BNSF man but these two Santa Fe steamers was a must. Broadway Limited have done a damn good job with with these two locomotives.

    Thank you for reviewing such a beautiful locomotive! This video inspired me to look hard for one (hard to find for me) and I ended up finding one new! I'll be doing a review as well on it. Anyway she's a beauty, that's for sure!
    P.S. At about 4:00 I noticed the handrail on the boiler front appears to be a bit messed up. Not sure how it'd get messed up like that but that handrail looks a little weird compared to mine. You can also see that at 9:25

    Wow, cool. Thanks James. And thanks for the other reviews, as I was inspired to get my Step Dad Broadway Limited's 2-8-0 DCC-sound for Christmas, it was a good choice. Their steam locos are indeed super detailed and and run really nicely. Not too bad of a price either, especially for what your getting..

    Great review! I like to see how Broadway Limited has stepped up there game on locomotive features! I just purchased the BLI MT-73 Union Pacific 4-8-2 #7021 from Modeltrainstuff.com since they had very few in stock and for a very good discount price. Payed $289.99 plus UPS is a killer for shipping these days. My first BLI locomotive and watching these makes me have high hopes of getting more of there trains in the future! Thanks for sharing!

    Outstanding review, Sir. I'm sold! ...And to think I was going to stay with standard DC Cab Control. Most impressive, if one could actually pick just one thing, was the synchronized puffing smoke. My Home Sgt. likes all that now. "OK, Honey! Get my musket. We're goin' to the bank!" (Just kidding! Don't want DHS and the FBI knocking at the door.) By the way, I mentioned to our buddies at TrainWorld that your series has been very influential in my switching to DCC. Thanks.

      Sorry Melvin, we had limited space to run. The smoke is more constant at higher speeds and it will smoke the basement up if you have it on the highest setting.

  • @toddgoaslind8102
    @toddgoaslind8102 Před 9 lety

    Hey James, just saw another video explaining dcc equipped and dcc ready. I'm about to purchase a dcc system but heard that dcc doesn't always mean that you get sound with it all the time. Is this true, because I don't want to make a 90 dollar mistake and buy a dcc transmitter and a train that is dcc equipped but has no sound. I might as well keep my dc power transmitter and get trains that have dcc and just deal without sound. Thanx for listening to my ramblings.

  • @walkerbelle
    @walkerbelle Před 9 lety +1

    James, mine just arrived yesterday from Silver City Hobby way up there in Taunton, MA. and I'm looking forward to running this baby as soon as the new layout track is completed. I got mine for $308 w/shipping so it appears I've done well also. I was hoping you had a review on this particular steam locomotive because you always have some great review presentations. Question? Is # 3851 the only road number for this locomotive? The reason I ask is a guy at the local train club has one & his, yours & mine are all # 3851. I didn't see any smoke fluid in the box so I guess I need to pick up a bottle since this is my 1st real smoke steam locomotive from BLI. OK, great presentation as usual James & I loved the "male model for brown people magazine" comment, lol. That was excellent! Take care buddy, Bo - down here in the Lone Star.

    • @joenewstead4848
      @joenewstead4848 Před 7 lety

      mine is 3888 and it has the road pilot and non operational Back up light. these are road engines I believe. the numbers that have the headlight on the tender and the switcher pilot on the loco indicates that they were primarily pushers

    They're great while there running. All three of mine have had gearbox failures. Then again I have over twelve BLi's with drive failures, including Y6b's, Big Boys, PRR 2-10-0, M1a & M1b etc etc - very disappointing. I think if you charge more than say a Bachmann, you should be at least as good as a Bachmann

    • @14thovi

      patrick Hera yes it will work just fine. however double heading unspeed matched locomotives in dc operation is not a great idea if you plan to operate them doubleheaded for a long period of time. It is safer to do in DCC operation.

    Beautiful looking locomotive, but those sounds are DREADFUL! They sound like they are from an entry-level decoder and not really deserving of such a nicely made loco.

  • @HARPO1ME
    @HARPO1ME Před 6 lety

    It is not a short locomotive. Do your research. Say Locomotive 50 more times . We know what t is. When weighing the Locomotive it is just the loco that deals with the pulling power in the weight that it has . The tender is actually drag weight and has nothing to do with pulling power . So the combined weight is pretty much useless and can be confusing for the actual purpose of weighing in.
