    My brother in law just did the flash to his 2018 SI. He also installed an intake for better sound. Huge difference in performance after the flash. Its a lease so he will reset and install the oem intake when his 3 yrs are due. Piece of cake, its that easy.

    ****CAUTION***** The +9 PSI TUNE WILL CAUSE YOUR CLUTCH TO SLIP AND EVENTUALLY NEED REPLACEMENT!!!
    It may not happen right away but MANY people that have downloaded the +9 PSI tune have had to replace their clutch after as soon as a few thousand miles.
    Its recommended to ONLY do the +6 tune which REALLY wakes up the motor!!!
    UNLESS you want to spend $$$ upgrading your clutch.

    Just ordered this to get rid of the rev hang in my 2020 Si Coupe. Thank you very much for this video. I literally purchased the Hondata just to do that as it's been driving me nuts for over a year now. So goddamn excited for the rev hang to be gone in my car. It drives me bonkers. Gonna be money well spent. I dropped a like on the video. This is super helpful. This is my first time using Hondata and my first time dealing with rev hang in a vehicle. I don't want anything else. I just want rev hang gone (people might say it's not worth the money just to get rid of the rev hang but to me, it is. It's either the rev hang gets disabled or the car goes). I'm crazy excited to be able to do this to my car.

    just bought my hondata for my type r , going to run e25 tune 58hp 78tq. 358 total hp about 370 tq to the wheels.. everything stock.. The clutch on the SI is made in India and if you plan on running more than 6lb of boost you will eventually run in to clutch slippage and will need a new clutch on the 9lb boost tune.. so you might want to put that on your list next summer for a new clutch, after you burn out the junky stock si clutch.

    • @PhongVLG
      @PhongVLG  Před 6 lety +1

      CSIG1001 yes, that is correct. One of the weak points in the civic si is its clutch, it’s like paper. Hondata warns you that running the +9 psi can cause clutch slippage. I’ve already actually ordered my Stage 3 Clutch. So expect to see that in a later video 😉

    • @PhongVLG
      @PhongVLG  Před 6 lety +2

      @Friskoism Před 6 lety +2

      PhongVLG Thanks for the replay!
      One more question though:
      Are you worried about the extra boost hurting your engine? Can our 1.5 liters actually handle it?

    • @PhongVLG
      @PhongVLG  Před 6 lety +3

      Friskoism the presets by both flash tuners are safe for our engine, I mean like any modified car your definitely cutting the life span of you engine, but that being said.. don’t think our little 1.5L engines can’t handle. You’ll be surprised to find out the stock turbo can hold up to 32 psi of boost, 29 is the safest limit though. There are currently a few people pushing up to 300+ hp out of our 1.5L, this engine has a lot of potential, especially with a swapped turbo, the limits are even extended!

    • @Friskoism
      @Friskoism Před 6 lety +3

      PhongVLG Thanks a ton for the reply! I think I'm going to go with the Hondata after your video. If you could do a review of the different performance calibrations and how you like each one, that'd be an awesome video. Thanks for the quick replies and great content. Keep it up!

    • @ReDiiKuLuS
      @ReDiiKuLuS Před 5 lety +1

      @@Friskoism The Hondata and the K tuner both do extensive tests to reveal the limits of the tune and the turbo/engine/transmission. What they do in testing is purposely over tune it to find what the limit for the tune will be with what the car can handle until potential damage can happen, then what they do in the tune that you'd install is tone it down to just below what would cause damage to your car so that you know it's safe to run.

    • @PhongVLG
      @PhongVLG  Před 6 lety +1

      Yoshi5oh - nope, the tune is a free map tune that can go with either a stock or modified car. There is a location to add variables like that, but to be honest, at that point you might as well get a tuner to do a custom tune through your hondata.

    • @PhongVLG
      @PhongVLG  Před 5 lety +1

      Leo Hernandez No it shouldn’t, usually the owner should have flashed his car back to stock which therefore allows him to unlock the device from his car. It’s how the device works in order to prevent multiple cars from being flashed at the same time, otherwise people would just flash their car and then their friends. Only way to transfer is if the car that was flashed is now back to stock. So you should be fine to lock the flashpro to your car.

      NinjaWasim that’s a great question, I actually had no idea that Honda made a 1.8L for the 10th generations. Unfortunately hondata nor ktuner have applications for your 1.8L, so it wouldn’t work for you there. But I’d reccomend searching up any other flash tunes to see if there is one for your vehicle.

    Thanks for this! I just installed FlashPro on my 2018 Civic Si. Question: Are you having knocking show up on your sensor list? Knock #1,2,3,4 is how it’s labeled. I’m having multiple knock readings and concerned this will lead to issues and there is not too much info online about this.

    • @PhongVLG
      @PhongVLG  Před 5 lety +1

      A B to my knowledge... knock 1, 2, 3, & 4. Are the cylinders. The main concern is your knock level. Which would be shown as a percentage. Example: 54.68% . For Hondata, the lowest your knock level will go is 53-54% that’s nominal. Maybe with hard driving it may cause it to raise a bit. If you ever go above let say 80% then there may be an issue or not. Usually knock is counted by a high pitch frequency. If your knock goes back down after driving conservatively for a while, your fine. But knock is definitely an important aspect with these cars. Things that can cause knock: tune, fuel quality (make sure you get good quality gas), intake temps too high, etc. Any concerns DM me on Instagram. I’d be glad to help you with anymore information .

    Hey man, so I’m looking to do mods to my 17 si, but am scared I’m gonna void my warranty! It’s a lease, but im most likely buying it out by the end of the lease.. has anything you’ve done affected your warranty? How about going to service department, do they say anything?

    • @PhongVLG
      @PhongVLG  Před 6 lety +5

      RJ Briscoe honestly, anything you do could void warranty. It’s really dependent on how the dealer treats it, you may mod out your exhaust but have a transmission problem & they could say you voided warranty even though the transmission has nothing to do with the exhaust. It’s honestly up to you, things that you can easily bolt-on/bolt-off are my suggestion. That way if you need to take it in, just bolt it off and put it back to stock. Now these ecu flashes can void warranty since it is messing with your ecu, you can always bring it back to stock, but some say the mechanics can tell if you messed with your ecu. In the end, it’s up to you. If you believe your gunna buy it out and have confidence you won’t need warranty go for it. I’ve owned mine for 8 months and I’ve kind thrown warranty out the window, it’s a Honda if it needs fixing it’ll be cheap, but these are very reliable building cars.

      I recommend finding your closest Honda dealer that offers this tune. There’s only about 8 in the U.S. We have one here in Austin, TX. We confirmed that warranty wouldn’t be voided when we did the tune on a 17 Type R. However, at the end they will give you the little module for you to do more mods on your own. BUT BEWARE, doing anything on your own will void warranty. We also got paper saying warranty wasn’t going to be voided since they offered the tune. I took a couple day. They take out the ECU and send it to California for Hondata to do all the work. In total Honda Dealer charged around $980. If you need some numbers for the Austin, TX dealer, let me know.

      PhongVLG granted the transmission and exhaust are not connected as a mechanical set. On the surface you have a valid point. However when you connect them with a bag of bones behind the wheel, they become connected. So the assumption is you abused the car. Which is a fair assumption.

      Im in the same boat as you. I do believe Hondata has tunes for stock cvt. Its not the biggest gain but it definitely wakes up more. I would do some research on which tune that is because choose something to high and the belt will have scoring. Hondata actually did a video on the cvt being pushed past its limit.
