The Saltwater Room just embodies the uncertainty one of the characters has with themself and their feelings (Adam's lyrics), contrasted by their partner's assured self-confidence (Breanne's lyrics).
Got trapped in revisions and rewrites, but I still add bits and pieces to it when I get the time. Thanks for posting this!

Our story begins May 2017 with a boy, age 16, madly, hopelessly in love with a girl, age 17, even though said girl has explicitly said she doesn't share his feelings. It also doesn't help that most of their interactions are arguing.
Jump to August 6th, 2017, the boy is invited to come to the local fair by one of his good friends. They met at a youth retreat that June in the most unusual manner, but this story isn't about that. Point is, they've been great friends ever since and haven't spent a single day outside of contact.
After the fair, the boy's friend texts him saying "my jaw is sore from smiling…after you left, all my energy just noped itself far far away"
(Paraphrased) "Why?" the boy asked.
A lengthy discussion followed, the friend dropped many a hint, but the boy was hesitant to presume a romantic attraction because of past experiences with his crush. Eventually the conversation came to the boy asking a simple, yet not simple question…

…his friend said yes…
The boy, shocked from someone actually being romantically attracted to him, stuttered along…he had no idea what to say.
