Ethan Vernon has won the prologue of the Deutschland Tour 2023
The Briton from Team Soudal - Quick-Step set the best time on the 2.3-kilometer course in 2:23.57 minutes. Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) was second, just under a second and a half behind. Maikel Zijlaard (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) surprisingly rode to third place, just under three seconds behind. With his victory, the 22-year-old Vernon takes over all three awarded jerseys of the day. In addition to the overall leader's red jersey, he also wears the white jersey for the best young professional. He also takes the green jersey for the best in points. By proxy, 24-year-old Dutchman Zijlaard will ride in white tomorrow, while Dane Pedersen will start stage 1 in green.
