      Herschel Walker made the team everybody respected. And they had discipline. Since we beat Pittsburgh to win the Super Bowl in 95 Dallas has taken a downhill slide. We're no longer respected, or feared, or a threat to other teams. Discipline!!! Tom Landry demanded it, and Jimmy Johnson earned it. In my opinion, The Dallas Cowboy's have always been Super Bowl contenders. We just couldn't get it done. Last year we led the league in penalties. Ok, so we won the NFC East. But once again we were one done. Fine players. Bench them. Even take a player from the practice squad. Without discipline, Dallas is never going to the big dance. I will continue to keep my Season tickets, and watch the away games. But I will not watch field goals or extra points. This guy made me break a brand new 60 inch TV. I'm a New Yorker that's been a Cowboy's fan since I'm 9. Call me a fake fan, or whatever you like. I've they have another season full of unnecessary penalties, and no ramifications for their stupidity, I'm done. I'll never root for another team, but I can't take another year of "The Cowboy's are looking like a Super Bowl caliber team." And watch them self destruct, I'm done. The least threat in the NFC East has won more Super Bowls in the past 30 years than the Cowboy's have won playoff games. And the last two the beat Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.But it is such a pleasure to watch the replays of the two wins against Buffalo. The only real Nrw York football team.

      I am a huge Cowboys fan, but let's tap on the brakes a little bit on Jimmy. He went to Miami and did NOTHING. Should he had stayed in Dallas, he would've won the SB that Barry Switzer won and probably not more than that. With the implementation of salary cap in the NFL, we would've been unable to retain much of the talent as it happen with the Cowboys.
      I give you that the way Jerry ended Jimmy's tenure as head coach was completely messed up and a HUGE mistake. Even Jerry Jones has admitted as much. BUT, the whole notion that the Cowboys would've won ten more SBs with Jimmy is just nonsense.

      Cowboy fan here. The Packer, Steeler, 49er, Cowboy, and Patriot dynasties all have the common thread of having been lead by HOF QBs. Coach Gibbs won three Lombari trophies with three different QBs that no one would consider HOF caliber. I can't even imagine how many titles Coach Gibbs might have won if he had a QB like Montana or Marino.

    This team was stacked. Best, most physical and biggest O-line in the NFL. HOF QB, RB, WR with best blocking FB in the league at that time, a clutch TE with great hands who could work the zone and a 6’3” complimentary WR with 4.42 speed opposite Irvin. Eight deep on the D-line with fresh legs in the 4th quarter. Fastest set of LBers in the game, each guy running between 4.45 and 4.58. Four starters in the secondary who ran 4.35 to 4.45. Solid PK and P. Good coverage teams. Great DC, OC and entire staff. Jimmy Johnson was a great talent evaluator and motivator overseeing it all. This team could have lined up with anyone from any era, including the 1989 49ers and 1985 Bears. You rarely see that kind of team speed, especially on defense, and the ability to play physical football at the line of scrimmage.

    • @Asahel717
      @Asahel717 Před 5 lety +33

      The 71 team had more individual talent with numerous HOFers: Lilly, Staubach, Hayes, Wright, Ditka, Gregg, Adderley, Renfro and several who should have been inducted into Canton: Howley, Jordan, probably Harris, and others who were Pro Bowl and All Pro: Green, Niland, Andrie. The 77 team was a great team as well, ranking no. 1 in both offense and defense that year. Doomsday II was dominant and with the addition of Dorsett, the offense was explosive as Staubach had numerous weapons to throw to: Pearson (Drew and Preston), Hill, Johnson, Richards, Dupree. But the 92 team had depth, size, team speed, HOFers at the skill positions, confidence and swagger. I think the 94 team had potential to be better than the 92 team. After Johnson left, the wheels came off the cart. The locker room was lost. Erik Williams was the most dominant offensive lineman in the game at the time. He nearly killed himself one Sunday night in October of that year, smashing into a retaining wall. He destroyed his knee and was never as completely dominating when he returned to the field in 95. Johnson had his teams ready to play those great SF teams and everyone knew the Dallas-SF winner was the de facto Super Bowl winner in those days. Switzer's teams didn't have the edge the way JJ's teams did. Had JJ stayed, Dallas would have won four straight SBs. Free agency came onto the scene in 93 and the Cowboys' great depth was lost as were key starters, including MLB Ken Norton after the 93 season. But for JJ leaving Dallas and the advent of free agency, the 90s Cowboys would have eclipsed all records. Still, I'd pit the 92 Cowboys against ANY Steelers team of the 70s, including their incredibly balanced 78 team, and against ANY NE Pats team led by Brady, including the 18-1 2007 team that lost to a NYG team in the SB that the 92 Cowboys would have manhandled. I think the 92 Cowboys match up well vs the 85 Bears because the O-line could play man-up vs the Bears front four. Williams would have handled Dan Hampton - Hampton was a great player but Williams outplayed Reggie White, who was even greater (stronger and faster) than Hampton. Tuinei at LT played great vs Bruce Smith in two SBs, and Smith was better than HOFer Richard Dent at RDE, although Dent's quickness would have given Tuinei some problems. Inside, LG Nate Newton and RDT William Perry would play to a standstill. C Mark Stepnoski was strong (450 bench) for his size (265) and a great pass blocker, so his match-up vs MLB Mike Singletary (a truly great player) would have been a key positional battle. At RG, the enormous and just plain nasty Kevin Gogan had 40 lbs on Bears LDT Steve McMichael, who was the strongest player on the Bears D (500 lb bench). The Dallas OL, like the 91 Washington OL, was one of the few lines in those days that could line up mano a mano vs the Bears great front four. Emmitt Smith and Moose Johnston were great at blitz pick-up - and they'd need to be on their A-game vs Wilbur Marshall and Otis Wilson. If Dallas could run the ball on the Bears, Aikman to Irvin, Novacek and Harper could damage the Bears secondary. The Dallas D had insane overall speed and they would have challenged the Bears passing game, which was never terrific. The key would have been slowing down Walter Payton. The 89 49er team would have, offensively, presented the 92 Cowboys with a stiffer challenge, although the 92 Cowboys would have given the SF defense all it could handle with its power running game and Aikman's precision passing. I think the 85 Bears, 89 9ers and 92 Cowboys would vie for the best overall teams in SB history given their strength on both sides of the ball. Of those, Dallas had the most team speed and best offensive line. Montana is probably the best QB in history, but look at Aikman's SB performances and his record in playoff games from 92-95, and he has HOF numbers that rival any QB of the SB era. Dallas corner Kevin Smith played Jerry Rice better in man coverage than just about any corner, including Deion Sanders and Darrel Green. Of course, no one could shut down Rice, you could only limit his damage. None of Brady's teams would stay on the field vs the 85 Bears. Brady never faced the defenses that Staubach did in the 70s SBs - the 75 and 78 Steelers and 77 Broncos. The NYG teams that beat Brady and held NE to a combined 31 points in two SBs were not nearly as good as the 70s Steel Curtain teams that fielded four HOFers on defense and several other Pro Bowlers. If the Giants could sack Brady 5 times in their 17-14 win vs the 18-0 Patriots, would do you think the 75 Steelers would have done? Or the 85 Bears? Ten sacks? Eleven?

    Every time I watch this game, I get pumped. Aikman, Irvin, Smith. Those three are electrifying to watch and it is no wonder that this particular group of Cowboys players set the benchmark so high, that it has taken years to try and come even close to what that team accomplished. Emmitt Smith was absolutely the key to this win. At first, it looked as if the Bills might contain Smith. Which they did, for roughly the first half, but in the second half, Smith simply began to do what he does best, make yardage when yardage is necessary. Haley looked awesome for Big D's defense. They all did. Too many players on this particular team making huge plays. When I originally watched this game, I thought the Bills might just pull one off. They beat allot of good teams to get to the Super Bowl, but the Cowboys offense and defense, as well as the coaching staff were simply too much for them to handle.
    We win this Super Bowl, we tie the Steelers and like that team back in the 90's, our current team is very young, dynamic and talented.

    This game was over before it started because of the mismatch at the line of scrimmage. The Bills' defensive line was simply overwhelmed by the Cowboys' offensive line.

    • @quentincampbell612
      @quentincampbell612 Před 6 lety +6

      SingleTax Individually the Bills had some good players that matched up with the Cowboys but the Cowboys had a defense built on speed and they could run down some the Bills players. Kenny Davis,who was quicker then Thurman Thomas ran well against the Cowboys and Andre Reed had 8 catches for 152 yards(no surprise there) but, without Thomas having a big impact and the Bills not able to spread the ball around put Bills at a disadvantage. The turnovers put the Bills defense in bad situations. Despite all that,they were only down by 14 going into the 4th,Bruce caused Emmitt to fumble and Aikman recovered,the Bills went 3 and out and then the Cowboys scored 21 more points to make it a blowout. Something how free agency impacted both the Cowboys and Bills of that era though.

      This game was closer than the score. Bill's had many opportunities in this game. 9 turnovers and 6 were self induced. Kelly doesn't get hurt this game is a classic. That said the right team won the game. 1992 Bill's were no where near as good as the 1990 bills

The dynasty was cool, but not fully appreciated by my young mind. I had other things to worry about. Nowadays ive become fairly accustomed to seasons ending early. My dad almost never even watches games anymore. Ive gotten him back into it this season. Hopefully they can make something great happen this year and we can enjoy it both as adults.
