SkyAlps, a subsidiary of the FRI-EL Green Power Group, is leading the way in sustainable aviation. With their commitment to green energy production, the group saves a staggering 860,000 tonnes of CO2 every year. In fact, they are able to offset the CO2 emissions from a full year of flight operations in just 6 days.
But it doesn't stop there. SkyAlps' aircraft are designed to be highly fuel-efficient, consuming 50% less fuel than the average European aviation. Their Dash 8 Q400s are particularly efficient on shorter routes, achieving an impressive emissions saving of around 50% compared to conventional jets, with an astonishingly low fuel consumption rate of just 2.3 litres per passenger per 100 kilometers traveled.
Not only are they environmentally friendly, but the Dash 8-Q400 also excels in terms of noise reduction during take-off and landing. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) have both confirmed that this aircraft surpasses current regional jets and turboprops in terms of noise levels.
SkyAlps is revolutionizing the aviation industry by prioritizing sustainability without compromising on comfort or efficiency. With their commitment to reducing carbon emissions and noise pollution, they are setting a new standard for responsible air travel.
Dash 8-Q400 PERFORMANCE:
The aircraft has a maximum cruising speed of 667 km/h and a range of 1.295 km, making it ideal for regional and short-haul flights. The aircraft is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW150A turboprop engines and its six-bladed propellers. The Dash 8-Q400 has become one of the world's most successful turboprop aircraft, offering incredible fuel efficiency and low emissions.

Great video my friend Matt. 👍 Nice livery. Beautiful and graceful lift-off. It looked so effortless as it headed straight up after take-off with fantastic scenery in the background at Bern.
I was lucky enough to be working in the Experimental area of the engine towards the end of R&D from 1998 to 2012. (I'll discuss more about the engine in another post).
This is one of those rare moments that the plane & engines were an all Canadian collaberation. DeHavelland for the plane and Pratt & Whitney Canada for the engines ( PW-150).
We learned a lot about props with our experience on the PW-100's. Notice how quiet the Q-400 is during take-off. At some point you heard more engine than prop noise.
Nicd and steady camera work Matt. The plane was always centered and the background was still in focus giving the viewer great colour and contrast.

I've got a real fondness for Dash 8's, they flew out of my local airport for a decade or more. I've been on countless flights to LAX, LAS, SAN, PDX and SEA Dash 8's. For those shorter trips, it's nearly as fast as a jet. And for some reason I sleep very well on turboprops.
I once flew an all-De Havilland vacation with six flights on various DH planes: A DH-8 to Seattle, a DH-2 floatplane to Victoria BC, a DH-6 floatplane out and back to Vancouver, a DH-3T floatplane to Seattle and a Dash 8 back home. Marvelous planes, all...
