Man, he makes that mandolin project like a friggen cannon. I love these guys, whatever name they're going by. I have always been blown away by how effortless Andrew Marlin's approach appears--both for his singing and his mandolin playing. I love their playful nature and that they are perpetuating this music.
Not to mention his thoughtful, insightful, understated lyrics in almost every song. In particular it's the song 'Wildfire' that really made me start to fall in love with them, and he says so much & evokes so much feeling in that song without forcing anything (effortless like you said), without presenting any overt anger or contempt, in such few but well crafted words and in his vocals that are so lightly delivered with a complete lack of pretentiousness or melodrama yet somehow still carry so much weight and reverence.
