LaMelo is only as good as his big men they are their whole team. When Lamelo takes a dumb shot (very often) who's there to get the board and kick it out. Who is usually the ones that get the rebound relentlessly and make outlet passes which allow the fast breaks and pull up threes. I don't think LaMelo could do that much if he was on a team without the stars around him. That is why people say he's overrated because he's just a piece of a really good team. Think if you put Klay Thompson on the Suns he wouldn't be near as good due to the excessive attention he would get since the defense doesn't have to worry about Curry, KD, or even Donkey Greens ability to shoot. Take away 21,Eli, and Lonzo and Lamelo isn't as effective. Sure he'd make his shots he's good but not to the point of where he does now. That is why LaMelo is overrated plus how is he not overrated when fans and hypebeast are already saying he's going to be better than Curry. He hasn't proven himself on the NBA stage so there's no reason to compare him to anyone up there.

If you were to tell Lamelo to shoot 10 threes; he’d probably make about 8 or 9/10, if you told some high schooler to do the same thing, they may only make half if that. Lamelo pulled up with some deep threes in this game.
I don't care if the defense catches up, the fact he hangs out at half court and beyond already puts him at an advantage when he gets the ball in open space. Also not using any energy on defense allows him to have the energy and legs on offense(if you could call it that). I'd say he had closer to 50 legit points, but would've had closer to 30 or 40 if he actually played defense because it would drain more energy out of him, and it would take more time to bring the ball up - both of which he will have to do in college.

I mean, it's not a big deal to cherry pick here and there, but he did it a little more than usual. But he's a amazing basketball player if he scored 70 points that were legit. He kinda needs to lay off the cherry pick a little, but other than that, he's great. Also, after this game, he kinda became predictable at his shot selections. He needs to pass the ball a little more, not saying he's a ball hoger. And he's good at catch and shooting when he cherry picks. To me, the coach needs to teach him more defense because when you play UCLA or NBA, defense is important. The only problem with LaMelo is his coach, but now he's being home schooled. Wow how times has changed. His games has definitely evolved
People are forgetting the point. Yes he scored 92 and he did cherry pick but basketball isn't a one way game, defense is key and that's what's wrong here when people do this it's kinda disrespecting the game. I understand a few times a game but hopefully he gets in on some defensive drills this summer he has great potential, but in my eyes doing shit like that doesn't make the game fun, or fun to watch.

So many of these were still cherry picking which he counted as legit. He was sitting on the other side of the court a bunch of times, but just because one defender would be there he would count it as legit.
