As a storm chaser, I second this. It is infuriating that people wish to profit and make unavailable something that should be public. The fact some people are even TRYING to make it so you have to pay for something like, say, a tornado warning, is absolutely horrifying and deeply infuriating. Weather data and warnings should be FREE TO THE PUBLIC, END of discussion. That is NOT something that should be warped into something to be a profit off of. -_-

@@ridanann I know you're joking but I'm gonna mention for people out of the loop (and because I just like talking about it) that "Midwest" means the middle of the western hemisphere (where the Americas are along with the very western tips of Europe and Africa) and "Middle East" means the middle of the eastern hemisphere (where Asia, Oceania, and most of Africa and Europe are). But I should note and Midwest/Middle East refers only to the northern half of the hemisphere. So the Midwest ends up being the states roughly in the center of the US (including Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, and a few other surrounding states) and the Middle East ends up being where western Asia meets Africa (although realistically the center of the eastern hemisphere is further east, kind of around western China, but I think the people who named it thought the dividing line between the western and eastern hemisphere was in the Atlantic ocean when really it's slightly to the east of Spain and England).

So if he says something along the lines of [currently the conflict of interest starts from the top aka Trump appointing people who have a conflict of interest] then that means that at the present there are so many people in government with a conflict of interest cause Trump appoints people with a conflict of interest.
I hope that helps. So he doesn't claim that Trump appointed Dick Cheney or somehow appointed people in the nixon administration as that would be pretty absurd as he wasn't in politics back that.
(Btw the last part was brought to you by sarcasm. I know you didn't mean that but it is equally absurd as what you understood.

You pretty much labeled yourself as stupid and blind at same time with this comment. What Tony R said, is "actually" on point. There arent many administrations in the US-history where you can say what he said with such certainity as with the actual administration. Stating this does by no means negate the fact, that a) corruption has always
existed and b) people have always talked about corruption
You in contrary are defending unspecified conspiracy theories which are (my assumption) unlikely to be favored here, but have never been part of any substantial critic of
corruption, especially when we are talking about big corporations connected to the government. This was always the area of leftleaning critics (who, by the way, did talk alot
about literally any case you mentioned). Who do you think was watching the daily show back then? Exactly, liberals and leftists or whoever is somewhat either one or other. And as for new and younger viewers, what do you expect from them?

Weather enthusiasts, storm chasers, scientists, and scholars will no longer have free and easy access to this data, which means you will put your trust in large corporations to provide an accurate and clear forecast (which won't happen because every company will create their own warning system and create trademarks and copyrights for their weather, and have to pay for the premium data plans they create. Nice and reasonable people in the US should just make a collective walk-out and spread all over the world and make the places they go to better. Then we should let the people who remain in the US build a giant wall all around the US - because that is of course what they'd want to do - and only deal with them if they start bombing other countries from inside of the US or if they produce too many greenhouse gas emissions.

As someone who had the pleasure of interning for the NWS, this piece meant a lot to me. The people working at the NWS are underpaid and overworked and yet almost all of them friendly, devoted to their work, and hardworking in general.

lol, why am I not surprised. xD I went to Germany few years ago and we had to pay for everything! You can't even walk in a random castle area without paying entrance fee.
Or maybe this is just the case in Berlin.

Usually you have to pay if you want to get inside a castle (museum), walking around on the outside is most of the time for free.
Of course maintaining castles is pretty expensive, thus the entrance fee helps to pay for restoration.
As far as I know that’s basically also the case in the other European countries.

It's a brilliant strategy; make government as ineffective as possible, then suggest the private companies take over as a viable alternative, thus privatizing a vital source of information, meaning people may (and eventually will) start having to pay for the service. And then said private firms will fight hard with lobbying and politicians to ensure that we cannot go back to the old system.
