    Thanks for the video. Considering the temperature and partly wet roads this is a good result for a SUV design.

    I have the same version, but left hand drive (in Belgium) and 18inch wheels. My consumption (I do not add the word 'fuel' here 🙂 ) is 175Wh/km over my first 1760km. And I must say, I'm not driving like my grandma. Still: the eDrive20 is not a real BMW, certainly not an "M" beamer. While it has the labels, it's just the trim package as you know. Reason why it's not a real Beamer: the front drive differential can not cope with the torque of the 150kW motor. Try putting it in Sport, and then do some twisty roads. Good luck with the steering 🙂. Would have been a lot better if the car was designed like the VW-platform (ID-series, Enyaq, Q4 , ... ) and rear wheel drive. But I have chosen the iX1 anyway because it is a very nice, European built cruiser, affordable and comfortable for a family of 4. My testdrive 10 months ago was with the XDrive30 (the 20 was not yet available) and also this car has some torque steer because it drives the front wheels as standard and the back wheels only in certain drive conditions. The software on board and the app are very good, and that is why my final verdict fell on the BMW. Keep us posted...

      Currently driving a 3 series from “22. Have test driven the edrive 20, tomorrow going to test drive the Q4 45etron. Rear wheel drive 285hp. I can’t believe whatBMW has done with this ridiculous front wheel drive. I’m a real BMW enthusiast but this set up off the ix1 and the ix2 is just terrible.

      I have the X1 2.0s drive and it suffers with the same torque steer issue... like the Saab 900 Turbo 🙂 Once moving though, acceleration is well controlled.

    Voice recognition was cracking 😂 Classic. Google automotive seems to work ok though on other EVs. The screens look very nice.

    230 Wh/km must be a nightmare for an Ioniq-owner....

      That's indeed about a third more than we saw under poor conditions (heavy rain) on a similar southbound trip a month later with the Ioniq.

    Hi, cool video. How much more range would you say the edrive20 has over the xdrive30? Does the edrive20 have enough power?

    • @evdabbler
      @evdabbler  Před 4 měsíci +2

      Thanks. From looking at official figures of the different versions and comparing with what we achieved with this car, i would say the range increase of edrive20 may be just c10-20 miles as I suppose the X4 drive disconnects motors when not needed. Smaller wheel sizes will help on range as well if you re happy to go with eg the 17inch eDrive20 version. And as mentioned in the video I think the eDrive20 has plenty enough power, in fact more than I'd want when it comes to parking smoothly.

    I hate the touchscreens and think they should be forbidden, for the same reason that you are not allowed your mobile phone while driving. They are by far more distractive then buttons and create dangerous situations in traffic. In my case it is even worse: the touch screens do not work for me. I need to tick the screen up to 5 times before it gets what I want. Horrible

      Agree in general. Here with the handful of buttons it s not the worst.

    If only bmw could build an ev with it's own generator so no need to do the dreaded public charging thing, no anxiety...
    i guess it must be impossible or they would have done it.

    • @evdabbler
      @evdabbler  Před 3 měsíci

      If by this you mean generating electricity from burning fossil fuels onboard that's what bmw did nearly ten years ago with the i3 range extender. It defeats the purpose of limiting carbon emissions once the vehicle is produced though. And there are a number of countries where there is little to dread from public EV charging infra now.

      @@evdabbler not really i have never needed the rex but it is there if i do, yes some countries do have better public charging , the uk is not one of them, we dont repair things here and remember we have a large population with little room for huge charging stations which would need to be many times larger than petrol stations....
      by the way it is cheap to charge at home expensive to public charge... i could go on and on, also the rex is good for the battery..
