    Great reaction. The limited edition of Unseen World came with a DVD containing the songs AFTER LIFE, NO GOD, GIOVANNI, WITHOUT HOLDING BACK. This version show all members at the same time. There are also versions of this song that focus on one member of the time throughout the song. The same goes for every song on the DVD. It's very handy when trying to figure out what each member is doing :-)

  • @JuanSan66
    @JuanSan66 Před 2 lety +13

    Great job Jack!. Band Maid makes their instrumentals tremendously catchy. I guess it's something inherent in their songwriting. Given their way of composing music in layers (remember your definition of musical lasagna) all their songs have instrumental versions in which they simply subtract the vocal layers. And they are all surprising for the amount of music that is always below the voices of Miku and Saiki. Once you listen to the instrumental version you are always surprised discovering "hidden" riffs in the full version. This band is very entertaining to listen to because of the amount of goldsmith details that you end up discovering in their songs after listening to them hundreds of times. Thank you!

    Miku got the Zemaitis V sometime during 2020; it shows up in the Manners video and she used it in the 2021 live stream that replaced the Budokan appearance. Apparently she only uses it for certain songs because the pickups are brighter and she doesn't want to get too much into Kanami's frequency range. It is smaller than a Gibson V, and it's asymmetrical so it fits her. She is a small pigeon. It has a nice crunchy tone, especially through that 5150.
    It'd be great if you went into Kanami's solo a bit. That's a great mode, especially for rock and jazz. Maybe you could lightly cover how major is just ionian and related to all the other modes. The whole subject of modes seems to really intimidate people. It's not that hard, really; learn few songs in dorian or lydian and you start to recognize each mode's sound.

    • @JbfMusicGuitar
      @JbfMusicGuitar  Před 2 lety +7

      Ah, so it's new(ish) rather than old! That's cool, make a lot of sense since that tapping part is quite lower mid-heavy, having the rhythm guitar be a bit brighter crave out that little bit extra space!
      Totally! People tend to get the fear, but like you say once you 'hear' them it all makes ways more sense!

      You missed out the best one :D GIOVANNI instrumental... That just blew my mind! You realize in the song, okay there is a lot going on in the background, but to see it actually without singing and just the instruments is just HOW!?

      @@Slippy6582 Yeah, for a long time I preferred Giovanni without the vocals because I felt they were a layer too many, so that version really helped me get into the song. (Now I love the vocals too and wouldn't change a thing.)

      Been meaning to try this for ages- I can tell from the watch time and stats of different videos that a lot folk just like a quick-ish first time hearing once over type thing. So figured I'll have a pop at a first listen style thing followed by a separate analysis one. Also trying to stick to a less guitar-centric analysis style to some extent
