History of the Bay Episode 70: Band$ From Tha Rose is a rapper from Santa Rosa who has been on a consistent run over the last few years. Inspired by his city's other local talents like Ray Luv, Band$ started taking rap seriously after a stint in prison. Since then, he's collaborated with Rydah J. Klyde, Goldtoes, CML Lavish D, and many others. As a Latino from Northern California, he's represented for his section, which led to a rap beef with LA rapper Lefty Gunplay. In this episode, we discuss NorCal-SoCal politics, the crossover between Black and Latino culture, and how Latino rappers from NorCal can get the exposure they deserve.

my locker in high school (santa rosa high) was sharing a wall with ray luv. he was the nicest guy. i was bullied and picked on alot and he always treated me like i wasnt a total geek. 3 years of his laugh and smile everyday

Nice... Giving respect to Ray Luv and artist that pave the path before him. That's humbleness right there! 💯Ray Luv was a trailblazer and we can't forget the other Link Crew member, the Infamous Young Grinn, who just signed with Death Row Records before he was killed by RP police. Grinn was one of the hardest out the Rose. 🥀 RIP. I went to the same schools and was good friends with his baby mommas younger brother and my boy Rob Thomas, who was close with The Link. Montgomery/class of 99). Triple X & Ant Dog are two other cats that used to perform with Ray Luv. Great memories at The Phoenix Theater and Rumors night club, back in the 90's and early 2000's. Doc Holiday also spits fire!. Love his song, "Talk To Me."
My moms grew up with Ant Dog i may have met him before matter fact my brother used to rap with him when i was little. My mom also got stories of her hanging with Tupac at one of Ants parties, she dated Ants cousin back then which is the father of the brother i’m talking about.
I completely understand. Ant Dog is originally from Cincinnati but I think he pretty much grew up in Rosa with his little bro Mitchell, who also played football for Montgomery High. His older brother definitely shined hard on Ray Luv's albums and compilations. 1. Crazy. 2. My Attitude 3. Coup D Etat 4. Definition Of A Hustla. 3.Deep In The Game 4. On Scope 5. Born Hustlas. 6. Church Bells. 7. Mask On. Ray Luv also shined on Ant Dogs albums. One of my favorite songs from Ant Dog's Album with Ray Luv is, (Repercussions).
Song is a banger and slept on! In the late 90' or early 2000's, Link Crew completed an album but it was never released. It even had that dope singer Kendal, rapper Moe Mans brother, blowing on hella tracks.
