  • Full mix test of Neural DSP's Mesa/Boogie Mark IIC+ Suite and Archetype Petrucci! Love them both!
    I used the same IR to better compare them. Also it's drop C tuning :)

    It's ironic how, at least to my ears, the IIC+ plugin sounds closer to John's classic tone than his own signature plugin (without considering all the effects of course)

      @sergiopusep  Před 10 měsíci

      I agree. His plugin is a mashup of all of his tones, including his late ones, which doesn't sound as tight as the IIC+

      I agree, IIC+ plugin is closer to his origina tone from older albums and signature plugin is closer to latest albums.

    Really love both of these, the IIC+ has this really awesome grit to it, and the Petrucci has a great mashup of some different tones. I feel like the difference comes down to how much tinkering you're willing to do as the player, since the IIC+ can be hard to get the sounds you're looking for if you don't have any experience.

    I came here trying to get a comparison to help me choose which one I'd pay for as my trial ended months ago.
    THANKS FOR NOTHING, I STILL CAN'T MAKE UP MY MIND!!
    LOL
    Great playing, man!

      Lol 😁 both are really great, I'm surprised with how great and different they are. Gotta say the Mesa IIC+ is more versatile though.
      Thanks man!

      Also it was hard to decide which one to use on this specific song (on the video). I ended up with Mesa, as I wanted a more "filthy/gnarly" tone for that one.

      @@sergiopusep That's awesome! Thank you for the insight, I think that settles what I'm looking for!

    Great comparison man. I think I prefer the signature bark in the midrange from the iic+. I’ve yet to test but I have a feeling the Fortin Cali would be very close to these aswell. Great sounds 🤘

      @sergiopusep  Před 9 měsíci

      Actually yes! Cali is a Mesa based plugin I think!

    Thanks! I could not dial a good tone for Mark IIc suite, so after the free trial, I discarded it. I tried the Archetype Petrucci and it sounded great out of the gate. Now I'm rethinking if I need to give the Mesa suite another chance . . .

    • @sergiopusep
      @sergiopusep  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Archetype Petrucci is MUCH easier to dial in. Mesa IIC+ has SO many options to mess around, sometimes I'm not sure if I'm using them all correctly. But the presets are a good starting point!

    I really like petrucci for the rhythm, and iic+ for lead.

    I would like to see your Archetype Petrucci tone!

    Nice playing. I don't think that it can be compared coz until the mark 4 all those mesa's have that 1st volume that work together with the lead drive.
    I mean..Volume at 4 and drive at 7,5 have a sound but volume at 7,5 and lead drive at 4 (even 6) is another sound. I wouldn't use so much mids on a 2c+ but i will rise the treble to 8.
    iiC+ plugin is like the real one and the Petrucci is allmost identical like caracter but for me it work like a mark 5. Sorry for the long story. i do olso use Neural even that i still have and love the my mk5 and a studio pre.

      Wow, that was nice to read, thank you! I love Mesa/Boogies but still don't own one, so your thoughts are very interesting!
      Definitely post Mark IV-V Mesa/Boogies began to be more versatile in its controls, that's awesome but clearly changed the classic tone itself.

      @@sergiopusep Sorry, my bad. I said until the mark4 but i should said from the mark5;. I found out that even with IK Multimedia that have those boogie mk2 mk3 mk4 some people are struggeling to have a good lead tone because of those pots that work together input gain and lead drive

    The Archetype cuts better in a mix. Believe me, I've tried all kinds of guitar amp sims

      Thanks! It's the Mark IIC+ Suite first IR (with a little mic position tweaking)!
