I've always felt Augustus Pablo played the melodica like Miles played trumpet. He was as close as reggae got to producing a jazz musician, so this is fitting and cool, coming from the other direction. Kinda strange to go into Machito in the middle of this, but then Pablo covered Jacke Mittoo covering Fiddler On The Roof....It's all good, when the right people play it. Monty, like Pablo, is the right people.
@@jstig1938 true dat. and Roland Alphonso for that matter! speaking of Pablo and Don D -- I've always been floored by the uncredited trombone solo on the track "Thriller" from Pablo's "Pablo Nuh Jester" LP (a/k/a "Dubbing Inna Africa")...any idea who that is? I'd always figured Vin "Don D Jr" Gordon....
Huh, Tommy McCook, the great tenor saxophonist? Don Drummond the trombonist? The trumpeters. The Alpha Boys School steeped many young Jamaican young men in the rudiments of jazz improvisation that would be heard in countless ska, rocksteady and reggae sides.
Monty makes it "Vibrate On", believe me : "Vibrate On" is one of his favourite Pablo tunes !!! Big up from a little french DJ, Monty !! I Will never forget you !!
That goes to show wot a tune king tubby meets rockers up town is when a jazz musician plays it live a good version I wonder if David rodigan has this one.. from the dub man
Now this is my absolute favorite! Yes sir! What's the name of this song..1st time I heard was an out door concert that was the concert of all concerts. Come on where's the Monty March!
This is a dub version of Jacob Miller's "Baby, I love you so".The dub version is "King Tubby's meets the Rockers uptown" produced by Augustus Pablo.Checkout the "Rockers" movie and Jacob Miller's Inner Circle band.

Alot of reggae artists do this rift. Always a sick one.
