Analysing AG's report on irregular expenditure in municipalities

Auditor-General, Kimi Makwetu, says irregular expenditure among municipalities has amounted to 25-billion-rand and that the Public Audit Act will be used to enforce remedial action against municipalities.
Makwetu said only 18 of the 257 municipalities managed clean audits in the 2017/2018 financial year. This is a drop from last year's 33 clean audits.
