Those were the most well behaved teenagers I've ever seen! The bulls were happy and you asked mama cow where her baby was and she said ... right this way and oh by the way watch what he can do. I think you should have asked for world peace because everything was going your way today! Awesome job!.

That's a great level of relationship to have with your livestock. They should never be terrified of you, nor should they think you can be ignored. Seeing Little Boy love a scratch, then respond to the paddle coming out, signifying "OK. You want me to do what next?" was a perfect demonstration. Herd animals have excellent memories for who treats them consistently and kindly. They're also perfectly capable of storing resentment for abuse, and taking their revenge when folk are looking the other way.

Some bulls just have a nasty temperament & can not take eyes off of or turn your back on those ever including bulls that were raised & treated right. Fastest way I know of to get critically injured or dead. FTR has been lucky with his bulls so far but notice he always leaves himself an escape route, always facing them & doesn’t take his eyes off them.

That little calf sure has learned how to follow and stay close to Mama! No danger of him wandering away from her in the herd. Thanks for a happy ending to to the atory that began with a skiiny liittle calf you had to teach how to nurse . I just want to say that you have such an easy-going calm attitude . Nothing seems to get you upset or angry. You take eveything in stride. , even when things go wrong. You are a patient man, a rarity now days.

It's a pity calves aren't like lambs. Because the ewe's udder is so close to the ground, lambs learn to get down on their foreleg knees to suckle. If the calf did that then the back teats would be easily accessible. Fantastic to see all stock doing so well post winter. Well done!

My brain has been partially occupied with the cow with the large utters. If I was a farmer would I keep this cow?
She seems to do everything else just fine but you almost lost a calf. Last year you didn't have to intervene, next year it could be worse or better. I am still thinking about it. Bet you are too......
I love what you have been doing to the place. Thank you for letting me join in on your farm. Really ........you are very good with providing the mental "food" my brain and emotions need. I bet you could be a possible prescription for slightly depressed smart people. 😊

    Great job with everything!
With your corral protection fence by your squeeze chute; what about placing pipe about 4 feet into ground that has an inner diameter that matches the outer diameter of the posts to your panels? Then, if you want remove your panels you can cap the buried posts off and they would be at ground level and not to be sticking up to pop a tire or trip over. Obviously you would have to likely build the panels with legs at least 3-3.5 feet long out of a gauge steel that will withstand some abuse of cattle.
    Just my two cents.
