. Grateful people of Florence made a golden-letter inscription "Saint Minas, the King of Armenians" above the altar of the church. To date the people of Florence commemorate October 25th as the day of the city guardian San Miniato.
Approximately twenty saints of Armenian origin are known in Italy only.

Some of the Armenian preachers in Europe are presented in the modern catholic church calendar as saints of Armenian origin, Saint Servatius, Saint Macarius of Ghent and Saint Chrysolius among them. They were preachers of the first age of Christianity and were either of Armenian origin or closely related to Armenia. They together with other preachers spread Christianity of first generations here, in our countries, for example in Belgium, which was not Belgium at that time but Gallia, a part of the Roman Empire. We know most of these saints as they were martyrs and sacrificed their life for the sake of Christianity. Preaching was mostly conducted at the cost of the preacher's life.
