- We spoke to Niamh Charles and Jessie Fleming about their respective journeys into football.

I Imagine that a paid academic scholarship through university because you played on the Uni football team did not exist for Niamh.
Whereas Jessie was fortunate to be able to leverage her talent at soccer into a paid and importantly, intergrated university education at one of the best universities in the world.
The fact that she managed to do a double major (2 parallel degrees) as well as Uni soccer AND Team Canada career all at the same time is quite frankly, remarkable.
Love that Jessie is just a nerd. Girl just likes school and enjoys doing math for the fun of it. Gotta imagine thats rare in sports. Im glad she can have friend that can relate, lol, I know her friends on the National Team make fun of her for being an engineer with an engineers mind; See Quinny blasting her for doing the sky on a puzzle first by laying out all the sky pieces in a grid
It is actually nice that there are now define part for women to come into tbe football world, both as a player or in other sporting capacity. As parent clubs improve in their overall investment in their respective women team, the pact would be more clearer, and we would see women football go to reach full potential.

Two great role models. Very interesing to hear about the 2 journeys in how similar yet different their paths were. Would love to know if Jessie had to sell herself (Apply?) to join Chelsea or was she scouted and if so by whom. Was john Herdman involved in trying to conect Jessie with Chelsea.
See grainy video on You Tube of Emma Hayes at a coaching seminar in California hwere she demonstrates a formal session with students from UCLA. Too grainy to be able to see if Jess was one of the players taking part. Was that where the connection was made?
