  • So what does a swarm look like? Quite simply, it looks like bees absolutely pouring out of a hive. Thousands and thousands of bees take flight as they force the queen out of a hive in order to find a new home to create a new colony. It’s certainly a site to behold! #honeybees #swarms #beekeeping

I use a 20ft piece of PVC with a cheap wire type trash can. I use thick gorilla tape . Catch them all the time with this and can take it on the back of a truck or side by side for added height.

That indeed looked like a good size swarm. When did this happen? Just trying to see how late in the year they swarmed.

On another channel I saw someone use a wire waste basket on a pole to collect swarms. The bees liked the basket and didn’t want to leave it. It may have been lighter than a five gallon bucket. I don’t remember which channel it was on.

@randallcarter-carterhillho2277 video 'How I catch swarms high off the ground safely' talks through the details of the pole and how to mount a mesh trash can to it with a paint roller. He has some follow up videos using it as well. He calls it the scope and score.
