The way the Super Bowl treated Janet was wrong
I thought they treated Janet bad also everyone said that Justin should give her an apology which he didn't maybe many years he kind of broke down and a certain kind of apology. But all I could think was she's so loving and she loves children and I can't imagine that being done on person considering there is going to be a ton of children seeing it I don't know I think it's an accident still
Also, Justin himself was the one who basically caused the wardrobe malfunction, yet he got off completely scot-free while Janet’s career crumbled into the ground for the next decade.

At this point, the wardrobe malfunction isn't cringe. It's the entire reason this website, and any video sharing website exists. That's the power of a Jackson for you, redefining the cultural landscape in ways no one has ever been able to. Michael gave us the halftime show and Janet gave us internet culture. Call it a spin, but that's fucking legendary if you ask me.
Totally agree. I don't see the point in making so much fuss about the “wardrobe malfunction” episode. In a world where showing off seems to be the norm, this episode is almost naive. Perhaps at the time it took people by surprise, but being talked about as a cringe moment until these days seems a little too much.

Depending on how you feel about the Super Bowl half time show watching it every year can either be very awesome or very embarrassing. Most of the time it's the latter.

A lot of people don't realize that until Michael Jackson in 93, the Half Time show was just filler. The NFL always assumed everybody went to the bathroom or got something else to eat and drink during half time, until 92 when Fox ran a live episode of In Living Color opposite the Half Time show and the ratings drop was so significant for that 30 minutes, some of the advertisers wanted their money back on their commercials. The NFL vowed that would never happen again.

Yes there was a wardrobe malfunction but in real time, it happened so quickly and from a distance that it was hard to tell what happened on TV. They also quickly cut away. But then it was shown over and over in closeup, it was all over the news, talk shows, etc. Absolute mountain out of a molehill, no pun intended.

A couple of things. The Super Bowl XXV halftime show would have been considered one of the worst halftime shows ever had it been seen live, but it happened during the.first Gulf War in Iraq, so instead of the live halftime show ABC had a special news report that aired instead, leaving the halftime show to be aired after the game was over, at which point most people had already tuned out.
As for the Super Bowl XXVI halftime show, the then-fledgling Fox TV network suspected the halftime show would be lame, so they counter programmed the halftime show with a special In Living Color halftime show which managed to draw about a quarter of the Super Bowl audience away from CBS which was airing the Super Bowl that year. The NFL took notice of that and decided to bring Michael Jackson to perform the halftime show the very next year.

Regarding The Who, Roger daltrey had been recovering from vocal surgery about 2 months before and was nervous his voice could've given out during the performance as it was one of the first times he sang for a major audience since. Even with his age and recent surgery he still put on much stronger performance than many others had and still continues to perform with great energy to this day at nearly 80

My earliest memory of super bowl was the "3D halftime" in '89. The video didn't even mention what a disappointment that part was! The glasses were in every store and there was so much hype and it fell completely flat

In 2004, I was working with several guys who weren't that interested in the game itself, but informed me that they were planning on watching the Superbowl because they had heard that Janet Jackson was going to flash during the halftime show.
You can't tell me it was accidental. I personally heard (from coworkers) that it was going to happen over a week beforehand.
Clothing was gonna come off, but more came off than was planned.
