    “If you had an Islamist, a jihadi, doing the same thing, he would go to jail,” journalist Dirk Laabs tells FRONTLINE's Evan Williams of Nordkreuz's alleged leader.
    The documentary includes photos found on a hard drive obtained by investigative journalist Dirk Laabs, showing members of the secret group of soldiers, police and civilians practicing military maneuvers and believed to be preparing for something they called Day X: a future moment when the German state would collapse in chaos, and the far right could step in and take control.
    Watch "Germany's Neo-Nazis & the Far Right" in full starting June 29: to.pbs.org/3jvKOLD
    The documentary, which explores the rise of far-right and neo-Nazi violence in modern-day Germany and whether authorities are doing enough to stop it, is supported by "Exploring Hate," a multiplatform public media initiative from The WNET Group in New York aimed at offering an in-depth understanding of the rising tide of hatred, hate crimes, antisemitism and racism.

When foreign or radical elements inside the state take over and the state is no longer able to protect the citizens or vital infrastructure of the state. This is after the police are no longer answering calls. When the military has no way to respond or take control. When civilian populations are with out any protection or possibility to protect them selves. (Thanks to Germanys weird gunlaws, the only guns in hands of civilians are always the criminals)

    • @guffaw1711
      @guffaw1711 Před 3 lety +44

      He wasn't charged because far-right extremism isn't taken seriously in Germany by the security services and the judical system. The reason for that is laid bare in this documentary: there are a lot of right-wingers in exactly those institutions who in turn ignore or protect their more extreme comrades and colleagues. Also it's scientifically proven that even conservative people don't see right-wing extremism as a threat compared to say Islamist or left-wing extremism. Most of the people in those institutions have a conservative mindset. This changed after a conservative politician Walter Lübke was assassinated by a Nazi a few years ago. They finally realized that right-wingers can become a threat not only to migrants or people on the left who they don't really care about but even to conservatives like them as well.
      There are two sayings in German that fit quite well here: Eine Krähe hackt der anderen kein Auge aus. Meaning: Hawks will not pick out hawks' eyes.
      And: Auf dem rechten Auge blind. Meaning: Being blind in the right eye.

    • @haeuptlingaberja4927
      @haeuptlingaberja4927 Před 3 lety +25

      It's already a disaster and still nothing has been done, precisely because there are so many far-right sympathizers and actual extremists within Germany's security services. When Walter Lübcke was murdered a few years ago--the first such political assassination since the bad old days--the subsequent investigation was repeatedly, embarrassingly stymied because there were so many naziboys in the BND (German equivalent of the FBI and the CIA). And it's the same everywhere: it's precisely among those people who go into the police, military and the security agencies that far-right inclinations are strongest.

Police and military are full of right-wingers and there were already multiple cases regarding right-wing terrorism this year. The main problem is that the state still is more scared of leftists who are by now often more supportive of the state than right-wingers. It is the fear of left-wing terrorism that is making our state turn a blind eye on the terrorists who originate from the right.
