Love it! What part of LA are you in? Definitely make sure you get in touch when you're ready to make the jump into home ownership!

Actually, the state income tax rate is higher for most earners in Oregon. Annual income $40K, OR 6.83% CA 1.85%. Annual income $80K, OR 6.96% CA4.91%. Annual income $120K, OR 7.75% CA 6.68%. I was quite surprised when my state income tax more than doubled on my pension when I moved here 4 years ago.

Hey Matt~ Just recently found your channel and Subscribed after watching several of your videos.
Originally from Oregon, grew up as a kid of military parents so I've travelled around alot, lived and worked in various places all over the world, became well travelled, well read, love lots of various cultures, ethnicities, worked in real estate and entertainment/broadcast media, etc. somehow ended up in SoCal . Weather is great!~ what's not to love about a Mediterranean climate right? BUT>>> weather is NOT a sole reason to live, move, stay anywhere in the world am I right?... Since you did actually 'live' in LA County and moved to the Portland Oregon area within the past few years, would love to know your/your clients' opinion on areas someone not retired yet and in their mid 40's- Mid 60's, active, fit, healthy, vibrant, tranquil, in to yoga, hiking, biking, skiing, horseback riding, private yet social, with a friendly social dog would live there in the Portland Metro area?
By inputting my preferences and qualities into many different websites it seems most everything comes back to the Northwest area Suburbs of Portland for us to relocate. Forest Park, Beaverton, Bethany, etc.
Love the suburbs, not urban person at all, prefer a tranquil chill state of being. In my opinion no sensible person with common sense would purposefully move to a remote countryside area; at least not at first. You would want to meet an interact with, get to know people in your area. Would be renting for the first 1-3 yrs until I get the overall vibe for the areas and what suits us best. ~Thanks for your honest feedback.

Thanks for the kind words, and thanks for taking the time to write out this comment! It sounds almost like you answered your own question tho 🙃 You want somewhere that's not necessarily the center of the city in the middle of all the hustle and bustle, but you like to socialize, meet people, but also like keeping to yourself. I would almost say neighborhoods like Multnomah Village and Hillsdale in SW Portland could be worth checking out. They offer a relatively suburban feel with lots of nature, curved quiet streets, with bigger lots, and some of Portland's biggest parks, but still have some of the walkability and charm that many look for in Portland locations depending on how close you are to the main downtown part of that neighborhood. It's by no means country, but that part of town I think gives residents a more private feel in their homes. But like you say, places like Beaverton, Bethany, Forest park, basically any neighborhood in the NW or SW that ends with the word "Heights," if you can afford it of course, offers a lot of that too. Best thing you can do tho is come here and check it out for yourself and explore these different neighborhoods, you may be surprised with how many neighborhoods all over even Portland proper offer you a quiet private feel but still are close to amenities to enjoy. Thanks for watching, thanks for subscribing, and definitely feel free to reach out any time and keep me updated on your move.
      Cheers,
      Matt
