An ecstatic moment ! A well-tuned 2002 is a dream ! 😎
In the late 70s, I was fortunate enough to be given a lift to work by a colleague who had a BMW 2002. Not sure which model, but the driver took it flat out across the Tay Road Bridge and reached 110 MPH within a mile before jamming the anchors on as we approached the toll booth queue. Love everything about these cars.
Cool 😎
It’s the one for me! It is absolutely wonderful.
Thank you for sharing it with your flock.
Wow!!! What a machine and a glorious sound!! Your ear to ear smile said it all, no commentary required 😉😊 I really enjoyed that and it's spurred me on to get on with my race/rally Crab, although not in the same league, I hope I'll have the same kind of smile on my face. Well done Pete, keep them coming!!
Stunningly beautiful rally inspired BMW 2002 for the pure analog drive experience. Thanks for sharing this piece of motoring history!
My pleasure 👍
Love this, what a cool car! Also the video itself is just so well put together. Have a great weekend mate!
Thanks mate 👊
Ah Sir Ped the enjoyment is all over your face when you get into these special cars !!! It’s honestly what separates you from the rest 👍🏻🍻🇨🇦!!
Thanks bud. That’s kind 👍
In the early 1970"s I had a friend who worked for a BMW dealership in Chiswick and his daily drive was a BMW 2002 Tii and we were always out in it what a machine amazing car for the times
What a machine! My uncle had one similar back in the day, though no where near as sporty. Takes me back far too many years than i care to admit. Nice video, thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
I just loved this whole video!! Your enthusiasm is something that I can totally relate to! I own a modified 1976 02 (motor built by Korman Autoworks here in North Carolina, US), and I drive it enthusiastically with that same grin of yours every time I get behind the wheel! Thanks for letting us experience this iconic car! I just subscribed and look forward to more of your content to grace my computer screen! Cheers!!
Thanks Perry 🙏🏻
Brilliant Pedro, simply awesome and I am very very envious... :)
Cheers Dan. Such fun 👍
Wow 🤩 what a cool car! The 2002 bmw’s are definitely before my time but definitely appreciated by me. I love the look the sound and the fact it’s a race car! Great video Sir Pete! My goodness I could listen to the sound of this car for a while it sounds so good lol.
Me too 👍
Been waiting for this!
👊
Wow what a great car so glad to see you giving it the beans as much as you can on the road 👍🏻
Would love to get it on a track 😬
Good morning ped
Hope you are doing well I absolutely love your video they are great keep up great work
My dad works on the same industry park in Milton and whenever we go to his work we always drive past the Market to see if anything interesting is outside. That thing is just next level interesting, what a car!
Cheers mate 👍
I love a 2002! If I had the money I would be bidding on that.
👍
Cant believe Simon is no longer about. He was such a character. Great video Peter .👍
Very sad 😢
I've seen you smile in cars before but there's a lot of them in this vlog! Top end sounds awesome I love the livery too!
Thanks Jeff 👍
Hello pal, proper lil rocker this one. Nice indeed. Sounds lovely.
How lucky am I, bought a racing 2002 end of last year. It had been in storage since 2010 needed some work but my son and I are having so much fun with it now. Beautifully balanced. We will be keeping it for a while and working on getting some more power from it. We did 120 laps at lakeside (Australia) the other day and can't wipe the smile form my face
Cool 😎
My father in law has a 2000 that he uses for track days it’s a bit more of a lump compared to the 2002 but it’s an absolute hoot to drive on the track. I can’t wait till the next track day where I’m able to drive it again. I’d love to have a go in a 2002 to see how both of the cars compare. Maybe if I’m a good boy someday I’ll get to have a go in one. Keep up the great content 👍🏻
Awesome video Pete.
Thanks Stuart 👍
Thanks for reminding me how old I am. My first Gran Prix were Germany ('Ring) and Watkins Glen in 1972. Anyway, this is a proper car. I can picture this up against a GTV. Thanks!
👌
Not long after I passed my driving test (some years ago......), my dad took me out to buy my first car and I saw a BMW 2002 tii.......I fell in love, I had found my first car.......however, my dad did not share my enthusiasm and I ended up with an escort Mk2 1100......gutted!! :-) Great looking / sounding car and video!
That Escort would be mega cool now though 😜
That is a cool car.Great review as always and very nicely driven.I think I would have the grin as well in that one.
Cheers mate 👍
Awesome car! 👍👌👏 Shaw these cars were in the car chases in the old James Bond films 😊
Lovely car 😃and loved the filming
Thanks 👍
Stunning car. Sounds amazing. God, I wish I had that sort of money!!
Me too 😂
Great video mate 👌
Thanks buddy 👍
Don't have the money and if I did and managed to buy it, would soon loose my licence but it was fun watching your video and sharing your excitement.
Cheers 👍
Oh man, you lucky lucky sod Pete, what a car.
👍
I enjoyed watching the Video. Looks great
Thanks Jamie 👍
Sounds great
Superb!
Thanks 🙏🏻
Peter…I recall these brand new and so admired a local lady doctor buying a brand new 2002 Tii in 1974…it was beyond “special” and supplied by Wild Goose Garages, Dursley. Just this week I saw a young man driving his original 2002 with a smile.. A car to buy just as it was 50 years ago. 😀😀😀Richard 😀😀😀😀
👍
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Gahh!!!!!!!! I absolutely love it!!!!!!! I owned a basic 1600 one of these about 35 years back. It was sold off "relatively" cheaply because the rear springs were a bit shot. The car came with a tow bar, and I worked out that they had towed a horse box with it somewhat regularly. I knew how to wield a spanner, and replaced the rear springs, (after-market ones, not OEM)(£80 for a single coil was a bit OTT 35 yrs ago). I also bought after-market dampers. The McPherson struts were dismantleable and the new dampers just slid into the original leg tubes, brilliant! The 1600 wasn't all that quick, but the handling was next level sweetness!!!!!!
You like it then 😂
@@PetrolPed Just a bit!
Hi Ped
Fabulous car, would love to have that in my garage. No I will admit I do not have the necessary talents to drive at Goodwood, but the sheer joy of driving this historic would suffice.😘
You’d have loved it 👍
Great car, great video. Want one...
Get your bids in 😜😂
I was lucky as an 18 year old I had 2300 magnum viva this is in 1982. My mates had some great cars triumph stag , capri 3.0 and RS 2000 escorts, but the stand out car for me was a friend with 2002 Tati in red. When most cars struggled to 100 mph, this was the Golf r of its day . Fond memories of my adult youth doing things you tell your kids not to do. One of my favourite cars of the late 70s early 80, that and a Datsun 240 z
Love this 👍
See- these cars give you something a “euro box” will never come close to. Noise - Drama - Raised heartbeat - Feelgood factor. It’s an occasion, epic.
Oh yes 🙌
Fantastic Pete sounds great I could sense the swell the vibrations fantastic brings back memories of my MK2 escort rally car .you will never get that feeling with a stupid electric cars. nice one.
Ooo Mk2 Escort…nice 👌
Possibly one of the best looking cars you've had on the channel...but then I do think 2002s are a just a wee bit special.
😜👍
Great video, me thinks you enjoyed that one 👍
Oh I certainly did 😜
I have NEVER seen you smile so much while driving a Car....... I think I would be much the same..... It has Character and Style.... You could take the badges off and paint it pink, and every Petrol head would still know it is a 2002..... You cant say that about most modern cars.... :-)))))
Good point 👍
Epic! Really reminded me of the Alan Mann tribute mk2 escort you drove a while ago. Cams all the way!!! Where is that road?!!!!!
Oh me too. The road runs between Wantage and Newbury 👍
Nice car! Would like to see that parked up in my garage.
Looking forward to this grin fest 🙂
😂😂😂
my first car was a ford anglia, not the upright one they drag race, but the saloon style "prefect" type, my dad gave it to me cos it was falling apart. we sold it though cos i was petrified about driving as a teenager.
anyway, wind on 12 years to university and not only had my confidence levels gone up, but so had my income, even as freelance designer i got a full grant in the those days (1982) and i was pretty popular in the bar. but i could afford a car and i fell in love with a 73 2002 with the rocket engine rear lights.
sad to say it spent more time being towed than under it's own power, and although i spent quite a lot of money on it, in the end i swapped it for an "arthur daley" series III jag.
A car sponsored by 'Wobbly'. If you know, you know. Cracking car.
Oh yes. Very wobbly 😂🍺
You have added an extra £10 now you have driven it !! Wow what a car
LOL 😂
Evening all from France! Hope everyone has a nice weekend.
Thank you. You too Sir!
Bonjour 👍
Great stuff;I could have bought a 2002ti Touring in 1999 for about £800 but just did,nt have the necessary!
😬
Very addictive sound from twin 45 Weber's 😜 that 2002 has provenance adding quite a bit to the sale price you need quite a substantial budget to go racing/running costs though.
Oh yes 😳
Another great car and video, I wonder if electric cars around now will have the same impact in 30 odd years time.
I doubt it 😬
Really enjoying the hammer time content. Any possibility of a Petrol Ped meet with fellow Peddlers at Caffeine & Machine in the future?
Could do 👍
@@PetrolPed Would just need to confirm date when your available (and time allocation if weekend, i.e. morning, afternoon or pm so can book ticket). I am sure there would be interest.
Forgot to add another friend who use to race carts had a Lancia delta volumex. Not heard of now but a very nice rot box in it’s day. Don’t really mis old cars the modern one are light and day a nicer drive without the maintenance
Btw, have you checked out "The Warthog Project" which is a dedicated A-10 Thunderbolt "Warthog" simulator? The reason I ask is that he built his own 270 degree projector screen himself with timber boards to create the curved wraparound screen and uses 3 projectors on the ceiling. Personally, I think this is a far better way to setup a sim racing rig instead of paying for 3 4K OLED TV's which aren't naturally curved which in my opinion slightly reduces the realism. The cost of projectors has dropped significantly enough to buy 3 good quality ones for the price of 1 4K TV. You uploaded a video with Motion Simulation's professional highend options, but this could be probably the best way if you don't have much money.
It's very nice
👍
I first drove a 2002 in 1982 , and yes by todays standards it’s not that quick but you can use all of it and thread the needle through the twists , great car of its time and that’s is a superb example. Now , where’s that spare 50k down the side of the sofa ? 😊
😂😂😂
nice!!!!
👍
WOW! #ohmydays
😂😂😂
Wheeler Dealers had a BMW 2002 Tii ,Edd had to get a Specialist to overhaul the Kugelfischer.
What an awesome machine!! I hope you do bid on it to be honest!!
And to be honest, I’m surprised you haven’t raced at Goodwood yet… I mean, if Mr Bean can, then……
LOL…he’s a good peddler 👍
@@PetrolPed Came second in a historic race recently didn’t he?
Food for algorithm ;-)
As you went past the Red Focus " Bloody Hooligan" Hee Hee.
😜😂
I'm sure that's an aphex twin decal on the rear of the car
😍
👊
Did I notice an Aphex Twin logo!?
Please how much did it go for?
I’m not actually sure. Just tried to find out with no joy 😬
Hello mate
Hi 👋
Hey guys
Hey 👋
Evening All 🎉tgippf🥃🍻
👊
Can never understand why people leave the dealership stickers on the rear window, especially if the car turns out to be a minger.
It's not as if the dealership put a sticker up on their shop window saying 'Steve's just bought a car from us and we think he's a fantastic guy'
Hi
Hi 👋
@@PetrolPed Hi Peds 🙏🙏

I’m sorry that is too special! Can’t see EV’s ever stirring emotions like you showed. Hope you’re enjoying YOUR boxster.
I sure am 👌

A useless bit of information;
Did you know the designer of the BMW 2002 also was the designer of the Triumph Dolomite.
I didn’t but now you’ve said that I can see the link 👍
Having watched this Im entirely convinced the host is a total nim-rod pimple twister. For instance when he mumbles about the exhaust & cleverly points out the removal of the x-can will undoubtedly result in increased noise..gee, he must know a bit about racing to understand that ! He should team up with the equally brilliant host at Girl in A Sweetshop, say, testing a Mini with a full on jet engine..maybe the world would be better off with a boy-girl orbiting bla-bla couple to engage a laugh or two for outer aliens.
No idea what a ‘nim-rod pimple twister’ is 🤷♂️
