    Thanks Greg, I just got a 14 SUV and in the process of setting it up. I had previously seen your video and was remembered that there was some adjustments underneath the table to get the blade completely square. Thanks again for the great tips.

    Thanks, I have seen this almost 2 years ago when I got my 18BX and set it up, now I am calibrating again and it seems unbelievable that there is not any other source to how to calibrate the front/back tilt, just THIS video..thanks for that, it took me a while to find it, I will now make sure it is bookmarked. Not even Laguna official videos show how to calibrate that, just right/left. Thanks again.

    Good info on table setup but did not check if all four trunnions were precision ground into the exact same plane. In other YT videos at least one of the four trunnions were not in the same plane and/or were poorly finished, requiring trunnion casting replacement. And, wheel runout is not checked. In other YT videos the lower 18BX wheel had excess runout and vibrated requiring replacement of the entire assembly. No safety support when table tilted.

    Good video. I'm going to look at one of these today. Lightly used. I've been wanting a large band saw for quite some time. The tips on doing the adjustments are priceless. This is very good information for anyone that has one of these machines.

    Hi Greg, I bought my 18BX right after your first video getting mine mid december. I didnt have a single one of your issues and after dialing it in ...wow. Impressive how well it cuts logs! I built my own outfeed table for those longer logs.
    Table alignment was puzzling at first but you found the same allen screws I did. Keep up the great videos.

      Thanks Duane, once I got it dialed in I had a similar reaction. What really encourages me about your commet is that you had no problems. I like to think that maybe they got a handle on their quality control.
      Thanks for your encouragement, more videos are coming. I built a gantry to handle the bigger logs, amongst other things.
      Enjoy your saw!

    I too was in the market for a bandsaw. After watching your videos, the BX18 was ordered along with the carbon toothed 1" blade (and others). Seems this saw does 98% of what's needed. The other saws would be 75-80%, always just a bit short of required. Thanks for the tips.

    Greg...your video comes as I try to decide on a new bandsaw. I was looking at this model and had made the decision to purchas the 18BX. Unfortunatley, I caught a bug that was going around and ended up watching videos on the Laguna instead of concluding the deal. SO knowing what you know now, would you recommend this saw? If not what would you recommend? If I am paying for a Mercedes, I don't expect to have to go through the hoops you went through. I live in Maple Ontario, just up the road from you...if you use the 407 I guess. So please let me know your thoughts. Who would you recommend as a dealer?

    Thanks for the great tips. I noticed the miter slot on my saw isn't parallel to the blade, and I was wondering how to adjust for that? Also, if your table isn't square to the back of the blade, what kind of cut problems would that cause?

    • @wood4thoughtbygreg526
      @wood4thoughtbygreg526  Před rokem +1

      Hi Jason, it's a bit complicated to explain. You have to get access to the bolts on the casting where the trunnion sits. It requires removing and reinstalling the table a few times to get it right. Both problems can be resolved when doing this. I also reached out to my Laguna rep regarding this issue, and he was kind enough to offer to walk you through it. He asked me to have you reach out to him through text, and to set up a call to fix your problem. Just make sure that when you have the call, your table is removed to start the process. Good luck.

      @@wood4thoughtbygreg526 great, thank you very much! I’ve written down his number in case you want to remove it from the comment. I’ll try giving him a call next week after I’ve had a chance to disassemble it this weekend. I also have questions for him about how to align the fence to the blade because every time I tighten the bolts it jumps from where I had it set.

    Hey, thanks for this video. I’m deep in the middle of research on a new bandsaw. I’ve heard the blade guides can come loose on the laguna bx saws, have you had this issue? How do you like the guides having had the saw for so long? Thanks again

      Hi Jason ,yes they can come loose. I just make sure I really tighten them down before using it and recheck once in a while. I do however like them, especialy when I compare them to my 14''.

      I would buy again, the saw performs excellent as it was expected once the problems were fixed. I was so happy with it ; I decided to buy their jointer and planer. That being said it helped to have the support from the laguna sales rep . That alone gave me the confidece knowing he had my back because I still was unsure about their customer service dept. I hope this helps .

    I’d like to get this but have one question about lower guides. One reviewer was very critical of access to those guides. I have that problem now with my jet which is why I’m getting rid of it. Thanks

      @wood4thoughtbygreg526  Před rokem

      Hi Paul ; the commet from the other reveier is right, my big mitts have a hard time getting in there.The trunnions are in the way and the knob for the back cooling block can be used on the outside. However, if you need to tilt the table you then have to screw it to the other side. I would go to the vendor that you are considering and have a closer look. As for me, it's a bit of an inconvenience, and it did seem like an after thought. However I am still very happy with the performance of it. I hope this helps and let me know how it turns out for you.

      @@wood4thoughtbygreg526 thanks for your insight. I’m going to pass on the Laguna and keep looking. Sadly it seems everyone of the saws on the market today are made in China and the quality control isn’t great.

      I first loosen all the knobs and take out the insert. I then position the guide blocks where they need to be and pinch in against the blade, while turning the wheel. With one hand holding the blocks in place, I then tighten the knobs. Hope this helps.

    The quality of the machine and its performance is too poor. After sales support is also very bad. All machines are made in Taiwan or China. So our strong recommendation is not to buy any machine from Laguna Tools.
