    I used to install marine electronics on mega yachts, and quite often in some of the yards that I worked in they added extensions onto some of these yachts.This was in South Florida.

    This video was so beautiful. I'm glad to see you.

    I often wondered why your propellers and rudders are so far forward of your stern. That must make your pivot point near midship.

    • @OnboardTangaroa
      @OnboardTangaroa  Před 2 lety

      Yes you are right. The props are forward because of the 12' extension and our pivot point is more forward that what normally would be. The boat is also slow to respond but that's a good thing as it slows all our docking etc down. We never go faster than we are willing to hit something at!

    Great episode! I can't get enough of 'boat refit' video footage (am I weird?) - boat work plus beautiful scenery plus getting to know you all....😄 👍We have a 20 yr old tiny tinny (4.8 m aluminium boat) that we just love maintaining and improving. 🌟

      Hey Judi, thanks for your feedback. Love that you love boat refit video footage...we don't think it's weird at all. We like doing boat work and people think we are weird also! Right now we are welding on our aft rails 2 days before the inlaws arrive for a trip! Tangaroa is a DISASTER! Lots of good video coming up though so we hope you subscribed!

    Feel your pain on the 5200, had the same issue last December and have to rebed 3 out of 4 new thru hull fittings. 🙄 how long is the extension of stern, the props appear extremely far forward from stern line, what effects do you find with this ?

    • @OnboardTangaroa
      @OnboardTangaroa  Před 2 lety +1

      Our extension is 12 feet long and yes it moves our pivot point forward and also slows the response of Tangaroa. We are OK with that though. We may put bigger rudders on in the future but we don't know yet. As for 5200 - yes we should have gone with our gut and used fast cure but we tried to make the most of it. I'm sorry it happened to you too. It can be an expensive mistake but for us - we tried to make the most our of it. I'll publish part 2 in about 10 minutes.
