I saw that coming and it _still_ threw me for a loop. I was glued to the screen observing the positioning of Mizu’s arms and Kinuyo’s throat, but I thought the angle was too far off so maybe it wasn’t going to happen and I was overthinking it. Then came that bubble-wrap crunch and I knew it was curtains. 😂
I like show that goes for it or against the grain because it is not afraid to say, “look, life isn’t all about peaches.” Also, Mizu has a very different revenge story. Most revenge are based on the death of a loved one, but here, she goes after her father, the man who gave her life. She already had this mindset even before her “mother’s” death. The reason is he raped her mother and, in turn, gave Mizu life, who had to endure prejudice and discrimination compounded with her gender.
I love when shows allow their protagonists to be flawed and makes mistakes, it’s one of the reasons why Buffys one of my top 3 favorite series EVER. I really feel this is kind of a turning point for Mizus character, this is the moment where she fully goes off the deep end for her revenge and crosses a line where she’s honestly acting no better than the people she claims to hate. It’s just SO WELL WRITTEN. 😭🙌 I wouldn’t say it made me dislike Mizu but it definitely made me salty at her poor decision making 🤷🏻♂️ but showing how far Mizu is willing to go really kinda sets the tone for how this season and possibly future seasons will go, she may get ALOT DARKER before coming back around 👏😭
I think another way to look at the killing of the young girl is an act of mercy. in this world, what Lady Koji promised her -- "I'll never let a man touch you" -- is impossible unless she's dead. as for the symbolism of the bird, I saw it as a parallel to Mizu herself. she is an orphan and she just made those baby birds orphans in the process of seeking her revenge. I love how flawed Mizu's character is; she is by no means a perfect person but she does try to do the right thing when she can and only really kills who she feels it is necessary to kill to accomplish her mission. this is why she didn't kill that little boy who ended up ratting her out. where she chooses to draw the line of morality is very interesting to me and it's what keeps me super hooked on this series. also, Ringo is my favorite character (aside from Mizu, obviously). he's just so loyal and is happy to fulfill his role as apprentice no matter what. I love him! 😃
That's the thing about this show. None of these people save for maybe Ringo and Taugen are good people. Some do hints of good, but other than that, they're all pretty horrible. But that's that world they live in.
Kinuyo a deaf girl that was in madame Kaji’s care in the brothel. By madame Kaji’s order she killed her as she didn’t want her to suffer anymore by being in the hands of Hamada a mob boss.
That neck break absolutely caught be my surprise. This is a great series. A masterpiece.
I was also surprised but then it reminded me of when she said "Revenge doesn't hesitate."

"Whoever said that she was a hero"
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
Man y'all are in for a TREAT with Episode 5
When you set out on revenge, dig two graves first.
This was my favorite episode. Everyone was playing 3D chess, and it felt like reading an old Japanese novel. And of course, Kinuyo...
right now y'all and one other the only ones reacting...y'all on it!
shldve took out the boy...but i understand...she didn't want two bodies on her that night
Your reaction is so insightful!! Especially with the wind blowing the crane off course. Interesting perspective!!
BW wiped her slate clean....she sacrificed herself to save half of existence.
You dare doubt mizu gangster
The audacity, right 😂
Mehn i love DiamondMynd's wisdom in this show.. bring him back for more reactions on other shows.
Can’t wait till ep 5
The who watched ep 5: I know something you don’t 😏
Incense cones are old school too. 😉
Mizu was told to kill her.
And here we go.
Does anyone know what the literal meaning is of the sign language??
I love the female samurai

No way that fuck Boi taigen is really all good. But I really think that only sword father and Ringo are good
Taigen was bragging about scoring Akemi and hasn’t proven he’s no different from Mikio(sp?).
@gamaresaba Just to add that he has supposedly dueled and killed many people. Not saying it was all innocent people either.
😎😎
Who did she kill?!
Kinuyo a deaf girl that was in madame Kaji’s care in the brothel. By madame Kaji’s order she killed her as she didn’t want her to suffer anymore by being in the hands of Hamada a mob boss.
