Tommy McCullough Pretty sure this was from one of their EP's though :/ Although I do admit I like their earlier songs much more, if you listen to some of their whole third album long enough you'll actually get to appreciate some of them (Mystery Disease and Plenty of Girls in the Sea are my favorites)
I love the feel of this song -- reminds me of my childhood, playing with my Nintendo, building snowmen and crying because they broke overnight, going to kindergarten, just chilling with my favorite cartoon shows, reading cool dinosaur picture books. Damn, I wish I could go back, but I just can't...I'm just hoping that I can give my kids a very good & peaceful childhood when I am father, just like my mom and dad did. I love my family...and I love this song & MGMT in general, such great musicians.
29 now, remember coming across this when I was 17. Mgmt made highschool great for me, helped in so many ways as their music has throughout the years. I feel like every album change, every change they've done went perfect with my changes and where I was at in life. Still happening to this day, LDA and the singles after it.
I guess there are more of us out there than I thought. Im in the same boat, turning 29 in two months. Everything really is happening so fast: parents getting older, friends finding their own ways, etc. Time gives no fucks. Here I am revisiting some of the stuff I used to love in highschool but happy where I have gotten. Hope you guys are doing well too. 👊
Back 2 more years later and this song still hits me like a truck. Everything really is happening so fast :( I was in middle school when I found this song and now I'm about to be done with college.
I feel you. I was just coming out of work this evening thinking about how everything is going so fast…feels like yesterday I was in high school but now I’m in my mid-twenties with a solid job. And that feeling reminded me of this song that I discovered when I was in middle school.
This song is the best from MGMT if you find this you are so lucky. This is is so rare. This song changed my life. wish more people would find this it deserves millions of views!
I listen to this song when I get really effing anxious and it reminds me that we are all feeling the same and everything is happening so fast and I’m not alone
Tinseltown is coming like a giant bleeding heart, and I'm so mad, well these kids try to be funny man. Well I don't think it's happened much, so we must destroy your art, and you'll be glad that you stopped sinning, and stopped caring about trying to do new things are a dream that every single person has, and it's not real. well I know I'm not too well equipped, But things go by so quickly I can scarcely stop to grasp the things I'm feelin now, and I don't doubt that everyone can feel it too. Everything is happenin' so fast (Everything is happenin so fast) Everything is happenin so fast (Everything is happenin so fast) Nature is to blame for the things we cannot tame so let's destroy it. Oh. I don't know about you, but I feel like a barbarian man, stop me if you can. When the poison drips, to create the same type of graph, available at your fingertips, when the poison drips. Everything is happenin so fast (Everything is happenin so fast) Everything is happenin so fast (Everything is happenin so fast) Everything is happenin so fast (Everything is happenin so fast) Everything is happenin so fast (Everything is happenin so fast)
This song has such a happy tune, it makes me even sadder. I think they're trying to say even if everything is going at a fast pace, we still have to try to be happy :')
I love how one can appreciate MGMT on multiple levels. A lot of people just see them on the surface as a "pop" group releasing hits. When really, they're a more deep act that released music that just happened to become hits! I do feel the energy behind their minds and their methods and music, and I feel a deeper meaning and energy in their music. It just so happens that they got famous. They weren't even comfortable and didn't conduct reciprocity at their fame, which is proof of their intentions.
I’m turning 26 father of two life being held together by stitches but I’m here trying. Everything happened so fast it’s like the older you get the faster the earth spins
I randomly remembered knowing an unreleased track by MGMT and a look on Reddit brought me back here so many years after listening to this (back in 2009). I’m so glad this song is back in my life. I wish they’d release it 🥹

This song makes me think of the love of my life who I lost in December. Love so intense and passionate and it all happens so fast and just like that in a fucking glimpse he was gone.. :'( R.I.P baby.

I have noticed with each album their sound changes enough that you can tell within the first thirty seconds of any given song. That is genius. You know who else did that really well? David Bowie! Marilyn Manson tried sooo hard to copy what David Bowie and Alice Cooper were already doing for years on end. I think being able to change the sound and even "adapt" with the times are traits that make strong, long lived, instant classic bands of any era! MGMT will probably be around for a long time!
This song hits different 12 years later . It did happen so fast .
Indeed
Dude this was my favorite song when I was a teenager. EVERYTHING IS HAPPENING SO FAST 😢
All of MGMT's old old stuff is really good.
Yeah, it kind of pains me how bad their 3rd album was compared to their first two. Oh well, they'll get em next time.
Tommy McCullough keep listening to it. It's just as good as Congratulations.

There is not a single bad MGMT song my friend, either if it's new or old :)
all their stuff is good... besides their self title album😂
Why tf wasn’t this on oracular spectacular?
I carved the lyrics to the first verse of this song on my high school desk in '09.
First sentence of the first verse or the whole long first verse? From "Tinseltown" to "That everyone can feel it too"?
thats alotta words to carve
Bet that desk is in the deans office 🤣🤣

this song helped me going through my depression 5 years ago, and it's helping me again today, for the same reason
Marco keep on going man you got this but with time things get easier trust me.

I'm in the same position in regards to feelings about their music. I'm 29, I found this at age 17 as well. It's a very comforting song!

there is something nostalgic about this song even though I just found it in the past year.
Goodolson because everything happens so fast bro
Do you know what nostalgia is? Or how it is perceived by the person experiencing it?
Holy.... I havent listened to this in almost 4 years!!!!! NOSTALGIA
I wish they would remake and officially release this song. It’s amazing
This song is actually so good. I wish they’d release this ep on iTunes and stuff.

thanks for the lyrics did you really like it
Always heard it as "well, I know I'm not too eloquent" rather than "well equipped". You're probably right, though either could sound good, eh?
This song helped me survive high school without taking my own life somehow. Thanks MGMT for indirectly doing that

This was one of my favorite songs as a teenager. I'm 26 now. Everything really is happening too fast man.
Me too, turned 26 last December. I found this song in 2016, it’s all moved so fast.
This song has such a happy tune, it makes me even sadder. I think they're trying to say even if everything is going at a fast pace, we still have to try to be happy :')
This song is about dropping acid and what goes threw your mind and it effects your time cuz its such a long lasting drug...
Dang...

Ugh can this song be longer please? Everything happens so damn fast.
Feels good with a bit of existential dread
Back a year later and this song is still a hidden classic
love this band with all my heart. it's the only band that i've been through all discography.
long live MGMT
I haven’t heard this song in almost 15 years. It’s as good as it ever was still.
My senior high school yearbook quote was simply: Everything is happening so fast. Two years later it still is folks.
As i heard this right now i felt a sharp pain in my chest when i realized that i'm about to graduate, everything happenin' too fast :(
Came back to this song 4 years later now. And damn. Everything is still happening so fast.
