  • KUNDUM DANCE. -----Kundum is the annual festival dance of the Ahanta and Nzema people of the Western Region of Ghana. It is celebrated to coincide with the fish season or the harvest of agricultural products. It is because of this coincidence of plentiful supply of fish and food-stuffs that some people refer to the meaning Kuntum as "Ekom entum me" - which means " Hunger has not been able to defeat me". Apart from being a festival dance, Kunttum is also the occasion on which the dead and relatives and ancestors are remembered and mourned.
