- This is the full DVD rip of Thee Hounds of Foggy Notion, a special little movie that comes with the vinyl record.
Before rocketing into full-blown garage psychedelia, Thee Oh Sees started out as a freak folk act at core. This DVD is made out of live lo-fi performances of songs from their earlier days, scattered around obscure locations in SF. Enjoy the breath of the american landscape and the beauty of slightly detuned guitars and telephone mics.

The weird 2000's dvd/camera video quality gives this such a cozy feeling to me for some reason
I’ve probably watched this 100 times. On days where my anxiety feels like it’s going to break me this is the only remedy. Really brings me back to a time before ultramodern conveniences and gives me the faintest bit of hope that maybe the world can go back to a time where people could make things like this.
Going from this video to their most recent KEXP performance is just mind boggling

damn as a kid who grew up in SF in the early 2000's this makes me nostalgic as hell, I lived in the Dog Patch with my mom and seeing all the shots of it before that all got built over makes me wanna go back to a time when the world seemed so much more free and somber, back it was so abandoned and overgrown but was just so liberating as a 10 year old in 2007, so many memories set out my kayak near those spots they played at
I don't know, since forever music has been a HUGE part of my life and, honestly, there always was a period in which I had a band that I praised above all others. Since the FALL and Chrome afterwards I thought no band could match those two. Tuxedomoon was close but I think Thee Oh Sees topple everyone and everything. They have just been... amazing in all stages of their existence. Thank you, JPD. When I couldn't paint no more you guys came and injected a crazy syringe of inspiration right through my ear.

edit: is john running both guitar and vocals into the space echo AND music man?
they used a gas generator and threw a bunch of heavy blankets on it. There's just enough ambient noise in most scenes for it to blend in a bit.
I think he used the space echo only for vocals and a dd3 for guitar but he might have it different here.
Is the audio from the performances or is it an overdubbed “studio” recording that we are hearing? I can’t tell

@@RegularDude00 I recently brought the album and it comes with an insert written by the guy who filmed it. It was because of him they had any audio recorded at all. Crazy to think what would’ve happened if all the audio was a mess

It's out of print, so the only way to get an original press is by scouting discogs and ebay but they go for really hefty prices now. I got my original green press for like 100$ and I consider myself lucky. The record itself is getting a repress soon to my best knowledge, not sure about the DVD.
