Sadly VAR wasn't used properly in the 2017 U20 world cup. The Nigeria vs Italy game was a total disgrace. Even with the line refs when it came to obvious fouls.
Metalpazallteway no disgrace at all. Foul happened outside the penalt area and he would have been 1-1 vs the goalkeeper. Obvious goal scoring oppurtunity=red card
Victor K What about when the no10 Italian stepped in the Nigerian in the side line with no ball in play and no red card. Then the Italian player scores the winner shot. Obviously both teams played well but everything should help the ref but most of the game is bought really.

Video Assistant Referee is the best system invented by Referees to avoid Goal with Hands, and computers take control over humans, Engineers in Informatic decide the game in 100% taking control of the game Machines, that will avoid the evils who have sports. And the power has the machines and not the decisions of humans
I liked the VAR at confederation cup. Any other sport what I watch (Icehockey, american football) the video review is 99% good thing to have. But there's some change to make because VAR is not perfect yet. I think one good thing add to VAR is example captain or/and coach/manager can challenge referee decision.

which captain do yous mean though? the captain for or the captain against? I just think either of the captains would be more pushed for something advantageous to their team
If captains/managers can challenge referee's decisions, there would probably be a limit on the number of challenges. In tennis, players have a limited number of challenges. If they correctly challenge the decision, then they receive the challenge back. If it's wrong, then they lose the challenge. I think this rule would be very difficult implement though. It might be too time consuming.
VARs can recommend to the referee about miss calls even when the referee doesn't ask for a review. So, it seems unlikely that a referee can rig the game because VARs can report the referee to Fifa or whoever is in charge. Of course, you can't say rigging is impossible.

Metalpazallteway Hay cámaras en todos lados, el problema esta en el tiempo que toman, quita el ritmo de juego, se necesita dar más poder a los que estan afuera en el VAR y no esperar a que el central lo vea.
ivan pedreros y al final los árbitros marcan lo que quieren. En la supercopa alemana se empezó a usar el VAR. El Bayern hizo un gol que era fuera de juego, lo chequearon con el VAR y no lo anularon.

There's no need to have this on Football. If one team scores and before that was a foul for the another team not seen by de refferee, we un-score de goal? What about the passion and the screamings of the people saying "goal" or "yes"? How can you explain to them that the goal doesn't count?
VAR, you are the mechanism to legalice the dirty play of FIFA and do what they wanna do: "his own".

there is already an occurrence in football where the crowd cheers and that is disallowed goals. The ref asks the assistant referees if the goal should be allowed or not. I'd imagine there's a system similar in many other sports. it's a bit of nuisance but that's the way it is if you want fair games. I am in favour of VAR - reduced errors.

Maybe in the future, VAR could have a bigger role in games and referees would have a lesser role. Referees are still needed to make the final decisions and deal with player conflicts.
Referee is needed to communicate the VAR decision to the players.
Messi Fan you arent the brightest one in the class are you? Var is there to assist the referee, in the end it's the referee who make the final call. If the referee didnt agree with the var, he still have the autonomous right to call decision and var couldnt do much without the referee.

i watched all the world cup games this year and it didn't make the game slower. but its normal you dislike it until your team gets it
