How can Wheeler be so good and has never seen the chartreuse tail on a bluegill?
ESPECIALLY growing up fishing Geist in Indiana!
Bcuz he’s a grey area fisherman!!! He’s not the pro you grew up watching,, he’s the pro who yu like who wins but know yu can out fish sometimes,,😂😂😂😂
Chartreuse is a very specific color. Y’all must just be color blind 😂
@@WheelerFishing it is much more prevalent in juvenile blue gill that you see sunning up around boat docks and such….but, they do have a chartreuse hue to the tip of their tail.
He's a bass fisherman not a bobber dobber and I don't want him to be.
Mark’s dressed like he’s going to paint a house.
Best comment ever
Juvenile bluegills have chartreuse highlights in the sun 100% but I’ve noticed that it kinda goes away the older they become.
If a bluegill swam over your head and you looked up all you would see is the shape of a senko. Bluegill bottom profile is just a slender long stick.
exactly. same thing with a 10 inch worm when a bass is looking down on one on bottom looks like the back of a big shad. ive heard a lot of guys say they dont know what a big worm really imitates but to me that makes sense.
This is the best answer yet
Daaaaaaaamn bro I’ve NEVER considered this 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
I’m with this guy exactly spot on
Wheeler is looking bad on this one! ! Like a dang politician trying to spin the questions to fit the answer he wants. Who the heck hasn't seen a bluegill with a chartreuse tail
"viewership is the same then as it was now" I love DC 😂
I love how this one is starting! "Ain't no way" a bass can see so good they know the difference in 8 and 10 pound line but then they think a senko is a bluegill and all this other crap we say our baits imitate!
Yall need a TV show during prime time!!😂😂😂
I’ve suggested this to numerous channels - actually - on each of y’all’s channels - and I’ve yet to get ANYONE to do a show on this - WHAT baits are so good - that you guys actually pay your money for those baits?????? That would be the real JUICE!!!!!!
Dude, unfortunately, they can’t. They have sponsors who would be very unhappy if they were highlighting products they don’t make. These guys are just being good employees
I found myself coming back and watching the the rate the baits
Oh boy, here we go 😆
That CRUSH CITY CLEANUP CRAW IS THE BOMB👍🏻
KVD and I are hanging out watching this video and agree with Mark they have chartreuse on the tail certain time of year !!! Love the video guys never stop making them !!!!
I'd like to hear more on this ewg vs straight shank topic.
Strike King 4” Rage Bug best creature bait out there. Perfect mix of durability and action. Black/Blue flake been my #1 bait so far this Spring.
Wheeler! We're gonna have to revoke your Hoosier Card. In Indiana, all bluegills show Chartreuse in the sunlight on the edge of their tails during summer.
@mark I would love to see rate the bait for things like sunglasses, sunshirts, rain gear, etc etc. As a new club angler i would love to hear the guys input on those more essential "gear". Keep it up with the videos!
I think a Senko can catch bass that are feeding on or around bluegill and that sometimes bream have very bright tails.
Props on the EWG debate the hooks that are inline with the eye don’t have a good hook set but the hooks with that 1/8” offset rise above the eye are the best, really allows bait to be straight and optimal hook set position
Green sunfish angler here and they have extremely bright tails and that’s the fish you are probably referring to. It literally looks chartreuse in the water
Awesome video Guy's!!
Listen as a person who fishes non bait fish lakes... strictly bluegill and crayfish and baby bass forage...and frogs and bugs...the #1 bait in my lake is a senko wacky rigged in watermelon red black flake with a dipped chartreuse tip for pressured fish..and especially during the bluegill and bass spawn...so without a doubt it represents a bluegill and the female bluegill do have a yellow tip tail certain time of the year...
Absolutely, Both questions!
Can yal do a video on the best ways to rig the bronco bug I can't seem to get it to fall just right
No shot there’s no Googan bandito bug in this conversation
Once I realized that, I stopped watching
There is but it’s only when they were discussing the beaver
The bandito bug is not a staple for one, and secondly the creature baits they are reviewing are flipping/punching oriented baits, whereas the bandito bug is a more texas/carolina rig oriented bait
Why would there be one? Literally NOBODY uses them except for kids, and the people they sponsor.
@@brandoncoulter3804 ew. That worried about googan? They aren’t the best bait makers out or even close
Blue gill debate Funny as F...!!! Loved it!
Was just wearing them out on a finesse trick worm with black blue and chartreuse tail around hydrilla with bream everywhere
Love Rate the Bait Bud, I never miss. I'm also "Perscribed" ask Cizzel what the heck that even means 🤣 Gotta say I'm partial to the Sweet Beaver but that Pit Boss is my favorite trailer on a buzzbait, sounds like I'll be ordering some Bronco Bugs Cuz Why Not?!? 🤣🤣🤣
Should have had the Bandito Bug in this one!!! Really surprised me it wasn't in there!!!!
Depends on water color to me. B Hite delite jackhammer is very close on my local lake
Yes and absolutely!!
I was out at a very clear water lake here in the west coast and i swear the blue gill up shallow had chartreuse tails
Yes to both questions, how come y'all stopped using googan baits? Great video bro!👍🎣
Bluegill most definitely can have chartreuse tails. Pretty sure that’s where the inspiration for most chartreuse tailed baits came from 😹 come on J Dub
As for senkos imitating bluegill, it ain’t the BEST option, but it can be an imitator
The answer to both is 1,000% yes. Bluegill in Florida have a hint of yellow on the tips of their tail. I don’t know how a senko is supposed to look like a bluegill but it gets bit around their beds for sure
Come up to Wisconsin and fish some of the smaller natural lakes. You will see bluegill with chartreuse tails all over. Probably due to multiple generations of hybridization with green sunfish though.
Some of them definitely have chartreuse tails. In Texas we have different types of perch and some of them have all types of colors on them. Our goggle eyes and rio grande perch have purple, yellow, red and blue on them with several shades of neon. A sinko in my mind can look like a crawfish on the bottom as well. Crazy debate
Yes it can and of course they have chart tails!
Florida resident says: yes bluegill have chartreuse tail tips that depend upon water color. Yes a yum dinger style bait may look like a dying bluegill or one trying to let out eggs. Been freshwater bass guy since 1968. I have seen a lot for sure. 👍
Order some Bait Cave Custom bait. Soft bait company. Great color. Love to hear you guys opinion on them.
You guys mentioned color and colors a ton in this video. Honest video on Rate the Bait talking about colors. I figured as Pros you would have GP and Black blue and that is about it.
you guys need to do one where you rate un known or new or local bait companies I know it would be difficult but its doable
Idea for a video, name a fishing technique, and have everyone share the name of the angler that comes to mind first. Compare and discuss why that angler came to mind.
Yes and Yes certain times of the year
I love the Pit Boss on a chatterbait.
Yes on both questions I use a senko to imitate a blue gill cause on my lake there is no shad
Should do a rate the bait a small vs middle vs big profile baits
I live on the coast and we throw wacky rigs in our grass to imitate a fiddler crab
Looks like I’m bluegill fishing from now on. Trying to get that 💰lol
You guys should do a hook rate thr bait for flipping hooks!!
Tramp stamp was the color like Adrian said you could go any where and catch them. But now the fish want eat here in east Tennessee on these tough ass lakes. Tvs
I’ve been waiting for this since Day 1 of RTB. Creature baits = Head games.
Don't want to make anyone upset but I say yes on on both I've seen on gill plates on very tip bright blue or green you guys rock I've learned so much from you guys in the past few years love your tips Mark keep it real my friend good luck waiting for you to hold that trophy 🏆🏆 high house rocks piece love and chicken grease
I take Dbomb turn it sideways and trim the body and use on a swim jig perfect profile of bluegill when going through water
I've seen sunfish up north with very chartreuse tail tips.
Yes 100% on both
Now I'm gonna have to go to the local Academy and pick up some Bronco bugs to flip with.... Great content as always MDJ!
MDJ reactions have me weak lol
The small blue gills around oklahoma have chartreuse tails in the summer
Good video fellas 🍿🍺
All of the smaller blue hills in my pond have chartreuse tails.
I am from Texas and yes the bluegill have chartreuse tails….I have seen maybe a handful with full chartreuse tails but for the most part it is a transition to chartreuse that starts about halfway back on the tail and gets brightest at the tip of the tail. A lot of the other species of sunfish down here also have a lot of chartreuse. I would also say to Jacob’s point I have seen blue tails as well and there are times when a watermelon fluke with a blue tail outshines watermelon with chartreuse
ive seen grown bluegill with vibrant chartuse tails. small one almost always have them. and yes I believe it imitates a bluegill if done right. wacky style
I’ve caught many bass throwing a texas rigged Zoom Swimming Worm in Green Pumpkin. Imitating those smaller bluegill.
I’m with
Mark the tip of the bluegill tails kinda have that yellow tint that is close !!
I think you guys should look up the zipper worm... it came out before any of the ribbed style flipping baits back in the 90's... it would be what all those beaver style flipping baits today came from
In regards to the black/blue/silver, im oretty sure rhat originated in a production bait from Gambler in the BB Cricket. they called it Bowen's Silver. That was well befkre RI.
Water temp makes the chartreuse come and go, in the winter i notice much more blue hue than the yellow ish chartreuse you see in late spring
JW knows his stuff, but he doesn't accept opposition easily.😅 I definitely agree with the majority that a chartreuse dipped senko can imitate a bluegill in "some" situations and the bluegill does at times have a slight chartreuse hue on the tip of the tail...👍💯
Not sure about it imitating a bluegill. But I have seen plenty of small bluegills with chartreuse tail!
It would be pretty sick if you did bluegill profiled baits like the gilly and the other JDM companies that make those baits. I’ve been killing it with them down here in Texas. Keep the rigging a secret though.
Jacob stay poppin that collar!
If Im flippin a creature bait texas rig, I like Googan Baits Kracken Kraw and Bandito Bug and Crush City Bronco Bug and Clean Up Craw. I like something that kicks alot on the fall.
I just saw some bluegill with chartreuse tails in Havasu
4:47......... Time for DC to cut his hair. That hair line done moved way to far back. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pit boss for the win! And bluegill tails are fluorescent blue but I use chartreuse dye. It’s close enough.
Yes it CAN imitate a gill. And YES certain times of the year gills do get a chartreuse tail😂
Can yall do one with deep diving plugs
Yes and yes most definitely
Some blue gill at certain times of the year absolutely have a chartreuse tipped tail.
I don’t know if a senko imitates a bluegill though. I guess a small dying bluegill could be possible, but only if it has a chartreuse dipped tail 🤣
Yes a Cinco can be line a bluegill and they do have some of them have a bright chartreuse tail for sure brothers
Green Sunfish, pumpkinseed, orange and red spotted sunfish, dollar sunfish and bantam sunfish all have season/life cycles where their tail and/or anal fin are chartreuse or at least the margins.
What’s your favorite top water
To damn funny. I agree. Stick bait can imitate a bluegill and from south FL, yes bluegill do have chartreuse tails
Jacob wheeler, I'll send you a video/ picture of a blue gill with a chatruese tipped tail. I see them all the time on the Delta. Like Shryock said mostly the small ones. Yes a senko can imitate a BG. Why do they make craws in gill colors. Same reason they make senkos in electric shad
Lake fork green perch have chartreuse tails and fins.
If you look at a bluegill from the bottom like a bass often does, what do you see: a long skinny profile. What is a senko: a long skinny profile. And yes them bluegills under like 4-5 inches got chartreuse tails.
I got a question. What the hell does a merthiolate trick worm imitate?
Yes. If bass are keyed in on blue gill they will hit any watermelon candy red profile with its tail or tip dipped in chartreuse dye! Because a brim has a chartreuse appearance on the tip of its tail! I think the ones that have that appearance is actually called pumpkinseed perch?
Put you a watermelon candy red baby brushhog with the tail dipped in chartreuse spike-it around brim beds and you will 100% catch bass of any size!!!
Yes and yes sometimes
Black and blue with silver flake originated with Gambler Crawdaddy Bowen’s Silver…dating back to the mid to late 90’s…..Billy Bowen Jr and Glenn Browne came up this color concept….thats the real OG of flipping baits
Bluegills in my area have black or very dark grey tails. I’ve never seen a chartreuse tail and I’ve been bass fishing over 50 years and guided. Green sunfish have a thin yellow edge on their tail. It’s not chartreuse. Most people don’t know a bluegill from a green sunfish. I think a wacky can imitate a bluegill.
Yes
Certain lakes in PA have bluegills with chartreuse in their tails. Not all bluegills have the chartreuse in the tail.
The fact the wheeler of all people deny that bluegills have chartreuse tails blows my mind. I target gills all summer and they 100% have chartreuse tails as juveniles . A senko style bait around a bluegill bed is deadly, either way you fish it. As far as the creature bait goes, flipping a creature bait is so deadly. I should have won a tournament on Logan Martin last weekend flippin a strike king rodent. I lost 3 fish over 5lbs a piece flippin because I was using straight flouro in stead of braid. Also, it’s a shame that the bandito bug wasn’t mentioned in this video. That bait is legit. Just because they don’t sponsor y’all anymore shouldn’t take him out of the running. Missle baits d bomb is also legit. Glad y’all gave him some love!
Senko. Absolutely chartreuse absolutely seen it done with that in south Louisiana we dip and dye chartreuse on a daily
Come to California, tons of blue gill with chartreuse tails.
Younger blue gills have chartreuse tails. Around gill spawn to post gill spawn I’ve seen gills with orange, bluish purple iridescent, and chartreuse tails. The ones with bluish iridescent tails tend to be like aarons magic skirt (deep colors), chartreuse tails tend to have that bright orange belly with lighter colored sides. …. Reaction innovations sweet beaver, spicey beaver, kinky beaver are my main three. After that I like z-man palmetto and hella crawz for my second choice.
Yes to 1 and at certain times yes their tails do have yellow tips on their tails
What about the bandino bug ?
