Wolfpack is actually one hell of a good game. It's complex as all hell, but I can't wait for it to get some more updates. And some time dilation mechanics.

@@addaccount9246 well you see a ubot is under the water and therefore mirrored from the perspective of surface ships meaning it is upside down , it all makes sense, thats why he joined them as a ubot crewmember, so his cover would not be blown by being upside down as he is usually

Actually just 4 times the turrets, 8 times the guns. And why, yes, 16 times the depth charges.
Grand idea of using a submarine like any ordinary ship in a navy! Move in close so you are not detected by sonar or visual. Remain surfaced so they don't see you. Yell at each other because that allows the crew to operate the vessel better & don't communicate intentions/actions so every one knows what's going on! Oh, don't forget to take on a larger and better equipped ship with a pea shooter! Superb job!
P.S. It's still funny to watch a group catastrophically try to operate & hunt with a U-boat.

U-1206 was one of the late-war boats fitted with new deepwater high-pressure toilets which allowed them to be used while running at depth. Flushing these facilities was an extremely complicated procedure and special technicians were trained to operate them. Incorrectly opening valves in the wrong sequence could result in waste or seawater flowing back into the hull. Which is what happened.
Why did you think engaging a destroyer while not submerged was a good idea?
overally engaging a destroyer is a bad idea since the u-boots primary target were the cargo ships
@Fort Blocks as I recall, destroyers were first developed around the time of the torpedo, which everyone feared would be death knell to battleships. So, everyone made torpedo boats, which led to everyone than worrying that these torpedo boats would sink their navy's battleships, so they made "torpedo boat destroyers", which were made to do exactly that. This led to the destroyer, which was a weird amalgamation between the two, some were more balanced around the artillery aspect, such as the British Tribal class, while others were directed towards the torpedo aspect, like the Japanese Fubuki class. Although the development of the submarine did kind of give them a new lease on life, since they had a job that few other ship types could perform well (they were fast, had room to mount depth charges and other ASW equipment, and were relatively cheap and thereby expendable).
@Fort Blocks they were built to counter torpedo boats, but later they've become kind of an universal tool to counter submarines and torpedo boats, fight enemy ships in large scale naval battles and to guard large convoys. No matter what you would definitely prefer to avoid these on the open seas, not even mentioning fucking engaging them.

@@alexanderchristopher6237 Just shoot them with a standard issue rifle, that's enough to sink many a destroyer :P They're cheap and light, but good at what they do. Especially when the destroyer class evolved into the destroyer escort which was even more streamlined for the roles provided of protecting other ships against both submarines as well as airplanes. Generally the crews were very specialized to deal with the threats they could handle, as destroyers were rarely worth arming with surface fleet weaponry so as was mentioned tended to have a lot more depth charges and such loaded on, allowing them to take out submarines, lighter torpedo boats, and later airplanes with coordinated AA fire. Generally they were very good at what they did, according to my grandpa during the korean war the DEs were crack shots at taking out airborne targets(A sleeve pulled by an airplane) while the heavier ships were able to turn the sky black without a single hit.
It does bear noting, blaring the radio was not helping them since when a sub goes silent often times the thing that gives them away to sonar is just the movement of the actual crew making noise in the water which the sonar detects. I'm sure the brits loved their target playing a long way to tiparary for their sonar operators though :P

@@jakubpluhar4914 Meth (by German brand name Pervitin) were given soldiers in all branches of military for increase alertness, concentration and energy in fatigued individuals and reduce appetite. But usage of drug was cut in1940 because soldiers became very violent and drung hangover made them unable to function properly on next day.

@@jakubpluhar4914 in subs they would in some cases kill each other, there have been some U-Boats recovered where that was the case, makes sense to me in U-Boats for the same reason people have shorter deployment in subs nowadays rather than Wehrmacht and other forces who actually get to see daylight and breathe fresher air all day
My grandfather was on a US Destroyer on convoy duty in the Pacific. He was in charge of the galley, but when called to stations, he was on an anti aircraft gun.
He carried ammunition to the gun mounting with the other cooks. Manning the gun mounting was handled by gunnery sailors whose job is specifically firing the mounting; the navy needed people on the guns who had a lot of experience in shooting straight (this was back in the day when warships used guns to shoot down aircraft) I know this because my old ship (HMAS Vampire) is in a maritime museum in Sydney, Australia and I was one of the gunnery sailors when it was active.

@@gokbay3057 They are definitely not. It's an 8.8 facing a 120mm. Plus the destroyer is designed for incoming fire, the Type VII ist definitely not.

@3:21 That is a directional radio antenna for tracking ships. Your hydrophone is underneath the sub. I'm not sure how it works in this game but usually you can listen to it while surfaced, but you have to stop your engines to hear anything. In most sub sims though it is much more accurate if you are submerged.
