Troy Deeney talks Prison, Alcohol struggles & Forest Green | Perspectives

- Since his short stint as player-manager at Forest Green, Troy Deeney has been in the media a lot recently. He’s a polarising character; some see him as outspoken, others find his ‘say it how it is’ style refreshing. Regardless, you have to respect the man’s career. Coming from a tough childhood in Birmingham, Deeney didn’t sign for a professional club until he was 18 years old. He rose up the English football pyramid making 165 PL appearances and scoring 47 PL Goals.
It’s rare to find a footballer so open about their story, but Deeney tells us everything. We cover his struggles with domestic abuse, alcohol issues, time in prison and the pressures of being a Premier League footballer. Love him or hate him, Troy Deeney is a name The Premier League will never forget.

Real G, has the humility to be honest and open
Well done Troy to come out and talk about these subjects, bery brave by him doing that might encourage others to talk.
Facts!
Troy's a guy who has been enriched by his success and access to professionals. I wonder how many others would improve by talking to people.
This guy is very articulate, I can actually listen to him without getting bored or overwhelmed.
Articulate 😅
Love him or hate him, don’t think you could hate Troy deeney. Good on him for what he’s achieved and he’s taking to the tv pundit side quite well of late after that classic drumming down of his forest Green players/team mates.
Enjoyed this interview, best of luck to his daughter on trail at Man City
His last name will always be ingrained in my memory that alone makes him a legend for that Goal.
Asked my 8 year old if he knew who Troy deeney is and he said yh he’s the one who scored against Leicester
Outstanding! Insightful. Authentic. Thank you Troy and Rising Ballers team
Best Episode. Should have WAY more views ✅️
hahaha appreciate it man
@@RisingBallers yes sir ✅️

People who put him down should maybe watch this...really honest..watford were good for him and he repaid them..Good luck troy in the future
Great episode…wonderful lessons in life! Thanks Troy 🙏
What an amazing video! Such a great player and great story , can’t wait to see more of this style content 🙏🏾🙌🏾
Great player? You sure? He was allright
@@marcusclark5330 he got most out of his talent tho better players than him never make it
Much respect❤ God bless you guys❤
Great Pod episode, had to double back and watch that goal again. 🔥🔥
Glad you enjoyed it man!
The streets will never forget Deeney...
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Liked and subbed!

I REALLY enjoyed this.

Great watch this was 👏🏽
Thanks for the informative podcast, always respected Troy one of the last genuine Target men, those headed goals. TBH the whole world has changed with technology, our new generation X has become over reliant on tech than hard work.
It’s funny our generation used to be told by our elders we didn’t face real hardships, but looking back I’m like only life’s journey shows and probably teaches us a lot. Thanks again for the entertaining pod/Interview.
Great interview!
Wonderful!
Great interview, frank and honest. A great role model for kids involved in the game today that are starting to go down the wrong route.
Troy picked one of the worst comparisons possible though by using Becks goal against Greece.
That was definitely one of ”those” moments you know exactly where you were and what you were doing, like Michael Owen’s goal against Argentina and England beating Germany 5-1 in their own backyard. “5-1 and even Heskey scored 5-1” 😂
Should have played for Jamaica 🇯🇲 when asked, he’d have been one of the first names on the team sheet.
Really he is shite. His ego wouldn’t fit on the plane
I'm sure his 5 goals a season would have had the other teams shaking in their boots
@TheNightmareAssasin teams like Trinidad, Cuba, Panama, USA and Canada?
@@realdeal8225 He wouldn’t scare USA 🇺🇸 and Canada 🇨🇦 but the rest he could scare.
@@TheNightmareAssasinClearly you can't read. Check his stats. They actually pretty good. Not as prolific as some but he was a target man and hold up merchant alot id the time.
Really good interview,I prefer when you do current or ex players over agents but then doing agent ones might be beneficial to people as well and hope troy goes into punditry as he's really honest and down to earth
Thanks for watching bro! The goal is to tell the most interesting stories in football 🙏
Funnily enough I've seen him commenting on Sky sports tonight .
A absolute great watch
This is fantastic
What a top guy! Great interview

Still the best goal ever. Stay strong king
Brilliant player

Interesting interview
Much better at football than Mastermind. Very interesting interview. Certainly had his ups and downs.
Good interview rate it I hope to meet him one day get book signed and say too him I rate what he did in premier league
I’ve heard this same story over a million times now 😂
Enjoyed this. Has he officially retired from playing? Not sure about his Aguero comment though!!
Great interview 🏆💯
What a lovely guy who seems to be doing what he needs to to accept his responsibility for his past to change his future.
DEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
😂😂😂😂
What was his Sunday team?
Was awful at blues didn't realise he was going to be that bad! Topman tho KRO 💙

Need to clip the initial Arsenal comment 😂
First comment! Give this a like
For a mug 😂
Joel Ward did, not Pogba
He could of been a model really
Laughing off assault cos you scored some goals is next level
Imagine if he had of having the Nevilles mindsight at 20 he could of going to big big Club
Why didn't i get a signing on fee at work?
Fully agreed, road to pro in any sport, for majority of kids isn't about talent, when you to the top 5% physical talent wise, overall (speed, strength, agility, quickness ) are all very much the same, the ones who separate themselves are truly tunnel visioned into the goal.
Foreal man - not easy out here.
Jack daniels cans? So bro was just basically drinking cola? Lmao
Same thing i was thinking, light work 😂😂
@@mikespott8011high tolerance to alcohol aint a flex 😅
@@Reecey28 not flexing at all just a bit of light banter 😂😂
Every time I see Troy Deeney,I always remember that “I’ll kill this muthaeffer “choke he made of Joe Allen. Tbh I though damn this lad definitely lost the plot, but then again I have been told I’ve got loose screws too lol
Look how far you got without putting the work and discipline imagine if you did graft proper definitely England cap and probably would of been on a Owen tip but atheist your mistakes can show the youngsters always work hard (a famous case of what work you put in is what you get back e.g results count) you can definitely be top striker on your day

Troy’s a real guy so much respect for his journey. Seen him few times in Tamworth
I said at the time fgr should have given hkm time he would of kept them up or that woman they employed for one game would of kept them up! But dales hate messed it all up for fgr
4 cans of Jack Daniels....what is a can of Jack Daniels????
Probably means jack daniels and cola (comes ready mixed in a can)
1.7 units a can, so basically 4 330 Heineken beers. Just taking the edge of the night before
Birmingham always has us trapped in crime
There is such a thing as personal accountability
Not just because I’m a villa fan but I genuinely diddnt like Troy deeney and I thought maybe hearing his story will maybe change my opinion on him and I might like him but it diddnt he’s still a knob
😂😂
Leicester goal was memorable, but to compare it to Beckhams against greece 😂
Come chelsea for a seaspn Troy!
Bro this is Harvey Prices dad
This is Dwight Yorke?
What did he go to prison for? What was he charged with?
Rising baller?
Why play crap so that Walsall wants rid, won't that effect the money?
Good interview but it burns how easy he got the opportunity some people like myself would not drink nothing but just never got the chance.. chasing the pound is boring easy to say when you have it. Good luck to you seems like life comes easy mate
Stop being a victim ,just work harder
I’m not lola
Loads of players started in a different position to what they ended up playing. Van nistelrooy for 1, too many bangs on the head Troy boy 😂
4 jack and cokes on the way to training and another 4 on the way back everyday is alcoholism. Sad he still can't admit it. But a good lesson for others. Its a hard thing to beat.
The title literally says alcohol struggles
Troy was as much a functioning alcoholic as Taylor Swift claims to be.
4 cans 😂😂😂😂😂
Making the most of it are Troy
Leave this space for propper people who have problems sorry but i cant feel sorry stop juping on the band wagon
That’s what u get for hating Arsenal 🤣
He looks like a bottle of guiness
A billion views? LOL
No he wasnt
Who cares sbout this wannabe thug
Wannabe what?
You took time and effort so....
spot on
@@Webzterr yeah typing out a few letters really takes intense time and effort
If you don't, then why are you here? Others do care.
Troy and Aguera goal, everyone knew where they were, 😂😂😂 i dont even know what goal your on about 😂 you definitely talk crap
Since when does Jack Daniels come in a can?
It's mixed with coke not straight JD
@RGPGAME-Z
I seen those cans in tesco, you'd have to drink 30 of those little cans to get drunk 🥴
He is at home
Jerking off ti this video it’s taken him three days to watch it
Jail
Jail
Hard man
Four whole cans
He is a bully
Blues tw@t
Hes the kind of guy you dont highlight....do better
You seem like hater!
So i like Troy but some details of his stories change each time i hear it, such as the money he gave his mum from his last wage packet on here he says he gave her 120 but on Crouchys podcast he said he gave her £100 🫣
£20 difference 😂
@@harden1362 i know yeah the level of deception is disgusting 🤣
