I attended Sir Tom Jones concert in Trondheim, Norway last week He opened the concert with this song. I was so impressed that I actually lack words. From this song it only went up. Two night later Tom Jones with what has to be said a superb group of session musicians almost levelled the trees, his voice is made of rocks and iron ore, and hi svoice is like a blacksmith's hammer. His "Vegas" stuff is campy fun but this stuff reminds us that Jones, Orbison, and Elvis are the holy Trinity of male vocalists. (I'll put Waylon in there too, only cause I'm a fan!) Jones last two albums are just sublime, Tower of Song and Didn't Rain being standouts. Now if only we could get Sir Tom to work with Rick Rubin, boy that would be great, no?

I saw him in concert in Santa Barbara, CA a couple of weeks ago. He performed many blues and gospel songs (along with his pop hits). All were totally awesome. I think alot of people were disappointed he didn't do more of his Vegas style material. I wasn't one of the disappointed people. I had alot of respect for Tom Jones before seeing him in concert. It has only increased since then. BTW...He turns 78 years old tomorrow (6/07/18).
