Hi, welcome to ShuoshuoChinese 说说中文; my name is Shuo, I’m a native Chinese teacher living in Bangkok, Thailand, I’ve been teaching Chinese as a foreign language for more than 10 years and I’m also a language learner.
In this channel, I will upload a weekly video, in which I talk about Chinese vocabulary, Chinese grammar, Chinese culture, Chinese stories with pinyin and the English translation for listening practice.
With my channel, you can easily start to learn and understand complicated Chinese grammar, sentence structure, and differences/nuances between similar Chinese words.
If you are a Chinese beginner, I’m planning to upload videos about what Chinese language is, how it differs from English, Chinese pronunciations, Chinese characters and Chinese stroke sequences and a mini Chinese course, (10 minutes per day), which can help you learn quickly and easily. Don’t miss it!
So, subscribe to my channel and start your Chinese learning journey!
Xie xie ke ai de xiao guniang. I've lived in China for two years, got married there and for me it was easier to learn chinese reading and writing than speaking, because I struggled with the fa yin (pronunciation). Through you my fa yin is greatly improving, coz you present it so clearly and impressingly and in a very charming way. Any bytw you are zhen de piao liang.
You are a brilliant teacher. Thank you so much. You make me renew my enthusiasm every time I see one of your videos.
your lessons are outstanding! you have a great sense of humor and make learning fun!
Your videos are so well done 😂❤
appreciate your videos so much ❤️❤️
These videos are amazing and love your personlity. Fun lessons!
The many euphemisms for 死 immediately reminded me of Monty Python's dead parrot sketch 😂
I wonder if it was ever translated to Chinese, otherwise it would be a cool exercise.
Awesome content, thanks so much. Love from Spain
我特别喜欢你的视频。太有帮助了🎉
Omg! That's why my teacher back then told me that I should not use "老” At first I don't understand what she meant but now I understand why she told me that. It's kinda disrespectful to say that to someone. But thankfully she just laughed when I told her “老师,你已经老了,你应该注意健康“ waaaahhh this is embarrasing 🥲
Thank you for this~ this is very helpful!
awesome video, the ending was very entertaining 😀
You so amazing teacher!
哇塞!虽然我学了中文07年,但我从来没有听过,没有看过这样的说法。说说老师谢谢你为我们分享。
谢谢 老师。
你就是太棒了!谢谢你的帮。我很长时间学中文,但觉得还没有提高
"你真是太棒了!谢谢你的帮忙。我学中文很长时间了,但还是觉得没有提高。" Your writing is good. It's totally comprehensible by local people. It will sound navtive if you adjust a little of the word order.
太有用了!
Wo yei xihuan fengman de shencai! Wo ai wo de nu pengyou, ta hen piao liang, wo ye juede ta hen ke ai! Xie xie ni! I am learning a lot from your videos!
A lot of Chinese dramas seem to have a plus-size male character who is called "胖子" / "小胖" . Although I know their inclusion in dramas is representation, I always found it odd (mostly interesting) how they were okay with playing the role whose entire personality was just being fat and overeating. It also showed me how Chinese people are not as sensitive to the word as the rest of the world is.
Don't worry, they will be eventually
I have a former student on my Wechat account and his user name is Fatboy. He is fat and tall too.
hi
i would say, boy are not sensitive, but girls are super to it
you can try it on girls if u dare 😂
You can also hear adults calling baby 小胖子 which I believe has positive meaning (showing family's prosperity, the child is well fed and it's family doesn't suffer from hunger)
one of my younger cousin is called "小胖” , he ain't got a formal name until he went to kindergarden
谢谢老师
扎心了😀
great hair treatment! 😃
非常感谢哦
太牛逼嘞 ❤
This is the first time I’ve ever seen a mistake in one of your videos. The subtitles at 1.54 ought to read: I guess your parents are a bit old, aren’t they?
(They for subject, them for object and the parents are the subject of the question)
But thanks for this you’ve explained why there are so many idioms I dramaland when a character dies.
中文说得真好
Je suis française, j'apprends le chinois depuis quelques mois, et j'adore votre chaîne. Merci beaucoup pour toutes ces vidéos très intéressantes ! 🥰
#谢谢老师.
You're the best.
3:11 once I heard in a drama a guy refer to his friend as 胖哥 and I was shocked
汉语老师很可爱
我们湖北人说别人长胖了,会说:长好了。比如:两个月不见,你长好了。可能是因为多年前比较穷,大家都以胖为好。
看起来还蛮成熟的 reminds me of the (more impolite) expression 长得着急 to make fun of friends :D
Great
第三个留言 for the algo' ! :D
Clearly even I must sleep Sometime
alternative to 笨? easy!: _"其者傻鲁痴呆之也!"_
Watched it ten times
"Simple-minded" basically means 智障. I think "naive" or "too trusting" would be better translations here.
He is sleeping...forever.
❤
What's the point of saying "You're fat" politely. If you respect person's choices, remain silent. Want to shame one, then go for it.
Hi, can you tell me how to say 'chemical' in chinese?
Because I want to say to my chinese friends that I work in a chemical company, thank you so much 😄
huà xué
我们方言说小孩胖,一般说灯独或zuai实,但中文没有两个字
您很搞笑
Just to joke: if you change the order of the factors the result does not change 😄😅
Warning:
Multiplication may not be commutative under special circumstances. Pay special attention when operating with matrices, vectors, both, under special algebras, and other special cases. It is safe to assume commutativity only for regular operations and only under standard arithmetic. The operator is expected to verify the proper functioning of their operators, control the the operands, and verify the results. Failing to follow these guidelines and the instructions given voids the warranty, except in the jurisdictions mentioned below.
Probably too true
I feel like 丰满 translates into "curvy" in English. Can you ever use it on a man or only women? If only women and it means big breasts and butt, then "curvy" is definitely a good translation.
yes,丰满can be translated into curvy, but sometimes it also used for a specific body part, like chin
这是现实中多国语言都很精通的人吧!了不起
🙏🏼👍🏼✌🏼💚💛💙🇧🇷❤
When it comes to 'fat', there is NO way of being polite!
I thought when referring to your close relatives such as my dad and mom, it should be 我爸爸妈妈 instead of 我的爸爸妈妈。 I was told adding 的 is incorrect by my Chinese laoshi.
As a native Chinese speaker, I would say both 我爸爸妈妈 and 我的爸爸妈妈 are correct. You will use the latter form more if you and your friends are talking about each other's parents. It's more fluent in saying 我爸爸、我妈妈 than 我的爸爸、我的妈妈 during oral conversation. The latter is more formal and generally used in writing - it's a popular topic in elementary school assignments. In such case, the title is always 我的爸爸, not 我爸爸。
@@aguaf 感觉说“我爸爸”好怪哦😂还是说“我爸”舒服一点
@@aguaf Thank you! I noticed that when I do Chinese lessons on Duolingo, it's also 我的爸爸 but I was told that adding 的 is incorrect but many native speakers do it anyway. Our 老师 always corrects us when we add 的, and told us not to form a bad habit lol
在我的村庄,如果你说"他去了西部,这意味着他去了地狱。So the West means The Hell!
Спасибо за разъяснение ❤❤ но думаю эти слова грубо говорить в лицо на любом языке 😂😂😂
I hope you can overcome the traditional belief that certain words are unlucky just because they sound like other words. Western countries have held similar beliefs about things being "unlucky" in the past (like the number 13), but I think most people have grown and learned that it's not a real thing.
People are aware that its not real lmao a lot of superstition is just habit. Like I only saw people "knock on wood" in America and I know many people who insist on doing that. People all over the world have traditional beliefs that they would prefer to keep because it just feels more comfortable. It's really not that big of a deal and western countries are definitely not the exception.
I like it but I can't watch it 10x
🤣
还是注意发音吧
this is just basic politeness, or, common sense tips on how not to be a total asshole. nothing to do with learning chinese
I would say that when learning any language, you need to master the details of how basic politeness works in that language and at that time. When I started learning Chinese about 45 years ago, I was taught that 你胖了 was usually a compliment. Now that obesity is a widespread problem, it's more likely to be taken as an insult. What's considered polite and what's considered rude isn't as obvious as you may think.
老师胖了。!😁😆
嘻嘻
fafu xD ... "grown/launched some luck/wealth" x'D that's an euphemism if there ever was one
but "happen" & "happiness" are very bad translations, comparing their 本义 when u look them up in older literature / check what the 说文解字 has to say about them / simply look at their true (= traditional) characters: 發, it has 弓 'bow' in it (and 癹 ba as pronunciation guide) since it denotes the act of 'releasing' the string and with it releasing/'launching'/'sending off' the arrow. while 福 with the altar 示 indicates luck/being blessed, in opposion to 祸 'disaster/calamity', with the underlying connotation of luck more as wealth 富 (material but also immaterial like honor/reputation/etc.) rather than the type of good fortune u need in gambling / during accidents / making choices etc. which is 幸 like in 幸运
普通话还是不够标准,有点南方人的感觉
Uncle Ben = Stupid Uncle?
One has to be SUPER CAREFUL here in Taiwan! If someone even ACCUSES you of "Public Insult" or the VERY LOOSE "Defamation of Character", you have been accused of a CRIME, and a whole big ol' can of worms has been opened.
So DO NOT say ANY of these words out loud in Taiwan! (I KNOW it's hard to believe! Otherwise, democracy THRIVES here.)
I've lived in this country MANY years and only became aware of this phenomenon quite recently.
So WARNING!!!! If you come to Taiwan from a country where you are used to "sticks and stones" or giving a middle finger. Be VERY CAREFUL! You may have given up everything to move here, and a stranger can RUIN YOUR LIFE with just an accusation!
I will say, though, the Prosecutors here in the court system are not stupid. So if you don't crash and burn at that step, you MIGHT have hope.
soldiers of trend
Western Pure Land sounds boring
I dont care whether it's rude or not , if it's true I say it , someone's hurt little feelings don't bother me , if you are poor , I say you are 穷
so edgy
@@littlejarofhopes and here we have 12years old who thinks calling someone edgy is still cool
丑呢?
And why do I call someone fat or ugly, poor. ..?? He/she is what she/he wants... It's inpolite, inhuman to say these words even in a proper or more polite way as you mentioned!
Such a hypocrisy from a society which is so strict about respect to elders, women...
你的视频太误人子弟了,初学者观看你的视频后会按照你的解释去理解这些词,这样很可能会导致不熟悉中文的初学者与中文母语者在交流中产生冲突。比如,老、胖、丑在中文的使用频率很高,只要是如实描述现实就没有什么问题。中国没有那么多“政治正确”的词,你或许在西方生活过或许跟西方人接触很多,你愿意随着他们的习惯调整中文,不代表所有中文使用者都要承受不使用西方政治正确词汇而带来的后果。
