I was disabled and sick for years. But in that i found Scripture and while i was getting to know God and His word he lead me to Jess's videos. I began to hope in the vision he was giving me and now I can not only walk well i can run! I can chase the chickens i now have! I can pace around and feel so greatful for the beautiful garden ive been blessed with! I can cook for my family from scratch and clean up from it! Praise Yah! He called me home and part of guiding me was the example Jess gave through her videos. Absolutely amazing how our God moves us through desire, just as promised!
None of this, even with all your knowledge, would have worked without God and your humility. I am so glad you have never left that behind.
As a long-time viewer of Roots and Refuge, this was lovely. It gave me some closure I didn't know I needed and the courage to not suppress my dreams.
This was so beautiful. There were moments when my heart swelled and my eyes overflowed. The idea of the garden/nature/animals as teachers just spoke to me. Jess, you are an amazing woman. Keep doing what you do best and thank you for sharing your heart.
She got me started with Tomatoes. I seen her passion 5 years ago and now I grow everything on a small piece of land. Everything I can fit that is. Sheis truly the person who got me started and she will never know. I have a huge passion now each season. I do not have a farm but maybe someday. I have a Regional Corp. job 8-5 but when I am home I am farmer Patty! Thank you Jess.

I understand the pain of letting go of your garden. I am just learning to garden now, my last home we were in for 15 years..that block was nothing but grass when we built our house, and I was having more sadness leaving the trees that I had grown and connected with by far than the building I raised our kids in. I have started very slowly working on my food forest. I was walking through my garden over the weekend with the mindset of being a student of nature, this video really resonated with me😊
I just have these big ole tears rolling down my cheeks as I watch this. I dream too and Jess makes it seem possible. I delight myself in the the beauty of my small "yardstead". It moves me like her big garden moves her now.
I hope to be following in your footsteps! We share a lot of the same dreams and passions and just purchased a farm 700 miles north! I sold my house bought some land three years ago.I'm turning it into a homestead. The ups and downs. Some bad choices .some not-so-great people taking advantage of us. I think maybe I made a mistake.😢.. I just finished watching your first video.on this channel..I've been following you for years. I feel like I forgot who actually is in charge of my life it's not me it's God. I just want to thank you for helping me remember that. So I'm putting my boots back on and getting out there girl thanks again.
Oh, Jess, every time your voice would crack, I was tearing up with you. I am so glad I looked up tomatoes videos all those years ago because that is when I first found you. I fell in love with your garden and your family. I was so sad to hear that you were leaving that beautiful place, but so excited to hear you were moving closer to NC where I live. When you announced that Jill and Nathan would be taking over your old property, I cried. I grew to love them because of you, and it was only right for someone who loved and respected you to take over the place you loved so much. As soon as school is out, I plan to be at your Thursday farmers market. My husband already knows and expects this! I can’t wait to meet you. You’re like the daughter I never had. Sheesh! 😭😅 This was so beautiful to watch with today’s perspective of the journey! We moved to our homestead the summer of 2017. I found R&R when I came to CZcams looking for gardening advice. While watching Jess’ boys grow up in the garden, I discovered my own dream to have children. It only took 6 years but now we’re moved into the home we built together and expecting our first child at 42. Thanks for your faithfulness to this community, Jess. We love and appreciate you! ☺️🙏🏻✨💕
I cried my way through this video. I feel like Jess and I are soul sisters everything she is and feels is exactly how I am and feel. I am surrendering to God's will to bless me with my farm. Right now we live in Dallas and I'm turning my backyard into my farm. But I'm also working on moving to Arkansas on the land my grandfather has left to my family. I dream of it every day. I'm a single mom so it's gonna take a while to be able to afford that transition for my family but I have FAITH.😢😊

I just watched this and balled my eyes out. My husband and I shared this dream. We watched you from the beginning. But I am on my own now and I have had to watch my garden that I poured my heart and soul into die and wither and will have to sell it all soon.
I am absolutely devastated and I have 6kids on my own.
But I remembered the beginning of your story, maybe I just might be able to do it again in a small broken down home with no money. I still see some hope after hearing about your journey. My first home gave me space to grow, raise babies, learn if I really did love country living and get further away from my roots. My current home came when I wanted to be closer to family, which compacted my learned skills into a more manageable platform. 20 years later I’m at the point where my babies are grown, I’m confident to share skills with others and trying to create community. Thank you for inspiring me! 😊

I was always into learning to garden. But 2020 sent me into full panic. In Iowa we started with a pandemic, and centered around a natural disaster called a derecho. Because of channels like yours I not only grew food, but confidence in myself. People call me a green thumb. And I tell them, no! This took study, and work. And anyone who wants to can do it. And I can't grow like you do in the south, because I live in the Midwest, but I never had success growing tomatoes before I watched your channel. I now have a decent sized garden, chickens, and I feel confident that if I had to abandon the grocery store even for a little while, my family would still eat. Thank you Jess. The Little Corner Gardens owes you a lot.
Laying down something good to except a even greater gift is still so hard.
God gave us our first homestead in the same timing as your move happened. It was such a blessing to hear you speak the words that my heart could not express.
