  • In this video we discuss if a beginning coder should be using an IDE. My short answer is YES, and I outline my own experience.

Hope you don't think i'm a troll here, as this is the 3rd vid of yours I have watched an commented on in the last few days, I guess you may have seen my comments to the other two. I can't believe that I have accidently found them in the order I have, thankful I had. We seem to have a bit in common but think I am a good few years older than your good self and I started C ( not ***** C++ or ooop ) back in the pre windows pre CP/M days, and my dad was a welder all his life too, maybe why I can relate to you tutoring style. Well, the point is about pycharm, easy errr ?, but not wanting to seem in any way confrontational, but as for VScode, yep, I guess it can do every bell & whistle the modern day demands but a pal mine wrote a better looking front end than what VScode has back in the dos graphics days, it looks like it's from the arc, but hey, I realise is is rated highly. I keep getting geared toward Pycham as the IDE for python which I am learning only because of other already written code that I have been ask to look at for a young upstarter, as I am retired now, so only a hobby now, but you know I found a lot things more logical when I was setting dip switches and reading 8 bit hex codes from leds hooked up to a Z80 uPc in the 70's to some of the cryptic so called help tools of today. So a real starter on pycharm and venv setups would fantastic, I have watched quite a few that leave me stone cold and confuse even more, they run like a 'here's one we did earlier' where it jumps from installing to completely filled code in the IDE. Also I think I mentioned on my last comment/rant, any thoughts on Wing IDE, looks a lot nicer and more common look and feel, but the one that I really can't find anything on that I thought maybe almost the complete python development tool chain especially when Qt/PySide will be the gui of choice, is QtCreator, do you have any thoughts, comments or secrets as why it takes a back seat and seems not used along with Qt, well, I have hardly seen anything on it, it's seems always Qt & pycharm or vscode, Thanks yet again for you clear teaching style, you are one of the only CZcamsr's on these subjects that seem to make much sense to the newbee clowns like myself starting with all the above. Kind Rgds.

Whenever I have seen Qt Creator being used, it's normally being used for C++ development and not Python. You are correct in that most of what I see is done using VS Code or PyCharm. Both are good options.
