Wooden Infinity Cube Table

The core of this project was inspired by the Jonathon Katz-Moses “Infinity Cube Table” video that he created. My infinity cube table can be used as a coffee table, an end table or a modern style sculpture. The White oak and patina steel contrast to give a modern industrial look. This entire project only uses three materials; wood, steel and polycarbonate. The woodworking uses no glue or fasteners and the steel only requires welding the pieces together. Great job! A welding question, when welding your first corner piece you attached the clamp for the last tacks and then removed it and filled the seam. What was the reason for the clamp move? Honest question as I’m new to the welding world.

Thanks. Keep in mind when welding that you want a good ground connection. I had the grounding clamp attached to the table off camera for most of the welding, but for some of that, I had to flip the piece so that just the holding clamps were contacting the table. That’s the point that I attached the grounding clamp directly to my fixture square. I try to avoid having my grounding path going through only my holding clamps cause it can mess up the threads. Best practice is to have your grounding clamp attached directly to the metal that you’re welding, but that’s not ideal when you’re trying to film stuff. Clamps get in the way of the camera.
