    I been using this bag as a carry on for weekend get aways or small trips for over 10 years. Has been by far the best carry on bag on the market by far. The organization on this bag is second to none. Using the roll up packing method I can easily fit a weeks worth of clothing in this bag plus a toiletry kit charging cables and extra shoes with no problem. I think the sternum strap is kind of a waste and not necessary. The yolk configuration makes this bag even when packed to the full capacity very comfortable. The 2 small pockets on the top is perfect for ur passport or wallet. I give it 10/10.

    I think you need to keep in mind this is a tactical bag made by a company that caters to military and first responders. While it can be used for whatever you choose to use it for. Just remember that they didn't have going to the office or hiking in mind while they designed it, they had going to combat deployments and responding to emergencies in mind. I thought you were on point, with a lot of what you said. But there is no such thing as too much organization. When I need something from my bag I need it now. Everything has a specific place, and everything is always where it belongs so I can reach in without even looking a grab what I need. Also, the compression straps are part of a tier system, they're designed like that so the MOAB series of bags can quickly attach and detach. I leave mine detached and tucked away.

      Thanks for watching! 💯 agree. 5.11 straddles the line between tactical and consumer, and this review was geared toward casual users potentially looking at this as an EDC bag. It’s all about use cases. What I carried on deployments vs civilian travel vs EDC, for instance, varied significantly and were suited for the task at hand. First responders, military… very different set of needs than the average everyday carry scenario.

      My brother in Christ they are an outdoor gear company that primarily came about for hiking/climbing gear.
      Also no first world military that I know of issues 5.11 gear. You won’t find an NSN on their gear. It’s more like cheaper gear to make you look like the real deal

    I agree with the lack of compression straps, ive added some extra straps to my pack and they help tremendously. With all the pockets filled they take away almost the entire large compartment space and if you put stuff in it the bag becomes overloaded, even though ive got a similar molle backpack thats 31L and can fit the same amount of stuff nicely and compresses well. Overall excellent quality bag. Next ill look at the first tactical tactix half day 27L.

    Finding it such a challenge to find the perfect bag. Saw one that had side pockets and then an elastic pouch over it which is great for umbrella and water bottle. So side zipper pockets with stench pocket over it. It also had dual compression straps that is good for also tying something down that maybe long. Had a great beaver tail that one side had just Molly and can be reversed to other side with a pocket using vertical zipper. Wish that pocket was a clamshell pocket with admin like the rush has. Had hip belt but wish it had a tuck away pocket for the hip belt. One reason I am not using it anymore is because although it was a condor, the generic zippers started to fail in less than a year, the shoulder straps padding started to shift around inside. It had a bladder compartment and padded laptop sleeve but not one inch of the bottom. Really almost my favorite design but built poorly. Also, I personally like the yoke shoulder straps. Oh one more thing. The shoulder straps buckles were not over the padding so was not comfortable under my arms.

    I’ve been EDC’n this bag for the better part of 15 years. The 2.0 is pretty good except that dumb laptop compartment inside. Once it’s loaded, getting your laptop is very tedious. Other than that, I have bought EDC bags over the years that have cost 3-4 times as much as a Rush 24 and I always end up going back to the Rush 24. I’ve amassed multiple colors too and have an old school fire red that 5.11 sold back in the day when they had fire gear.

    @BenNgo Před 9 měsíci +11

    Advice: you should reframe your entire shot to be closer to the hero of the video, which is the bag itself instead of wasting so much space on the bottom of the video frame for your table. Also, cut in some close up shots when you're talking about small areas such as the many small compartments, insides of each pouches. I myself own the Rush 24 2.0, but I assume it is very hard to imagine the little inside areas without actually really seeing it close up. And finally, if you overall shorten it up to maybe 10-15 min, it would be easier to watch, as a bagpack doesn't really need a 20min. review.

    I have used this same bag for close to two years now. I do 6-20 mile rucks with it from 20-45lbs.. I mean I abuse this bag.. I bet I have over 1000 miles of rucking on it. I love it. My only problem I had was, when we ruck a lot of time I drag my bag in sand. The zippers have taken a beating. they are some hard plastic or something that lost their ability to zip smooth. they still work but it take more effort. @@halcyon_ghost I’ve never carried one, but it looks like a solid bag. It’s 500D vs 1000D nylon in the 5.11 Rush or GORUCK GR1. You’re sacrificing a bit in durability but should make for a lighter pack. To me, and this is just a personal preference thing, the Ghost has a very tactical look to it. Which is cool if that’s what you’re going for. But one of the things I like about the GR1 is that it doesn’t look overly tactical out of the box yet still has external PALS webbing for that versatility.

    Terrible bag for carrying in the Specialized pocket. If fully loaded the pocket. It is too tight to access your pistol. Other than that I really like it. Great for a carry on or tooling around. It can be cumbersome fully loaded too. Highly prefer my other bag for day hikes, etc.

      100% agree. Fully loaded, that pocket is basically useless for its intended purpose. Overall, it is a good bag though.

    Do you think the Rush 72 is therefore too big a bag for everyday carry?

    • @Pack_roam
      @Pack_roam  Před 11 měsíci

      To me, yes. That’s a big bag. 55L. I don’t need a bag that big for everyday carry. I can get away with 15L, but I do like having extra space if I need it. The problem with too much extra space is I’ll carry too much extra stuff. This, of course, largely depends on how much gear you need to carry on a daily basis. Someone else may find the Rush 72 is perfect for their needs.
