I literally just performed for my grandparents at the keyboard and was so nervous. It went fine but when I finished, I checked my phone and saw the notification for this video. I wish I had checked my phone earlier 😅

Can you film a practice session?
Or document from first looking at a new piece to playing it perfectly?
You inspire me so much to play piano 😘

Could you please make a video about the differences between playing solo piano and playing keyboard in a band? And how to improve in the latter.
    Thanks for the great content!

Thank you so much for this. I’m a pianist and sometimes I get real discouraged when I can’t seem to learn a specific song , especially when I see other people playing it effortlessly

I got the premium access to the OPC - I highly recommend it to anyone looking to improve. It covers so many different aspects of piano playing that you're bound to learn many things.

BANG! Awesome. This video contains SO much true and important information, that it's almost unbelievable. :D Great stuff! Thank you! Everybody interested in playing/learning to play the piano should really pay attention to all your advice in this video. Precious!

    The way I learned the blues scale was through intervalls 3, 2, 2, 3, 2. You can also play 3, 2, 1, 1, 3, 2 if you want to include flat 5.

I have recently been really proud of my progress in piano recently and I really think your videos have given me a lot of motivation to practice - I was playing pretty intermediate pieces last year, now I’m learning prelude to Le Tombeau de Couperin, arabesque no. 2, and ETUDE OP. 10 NO. 4!!!! Thank you for helping me get to this level!!! I’m so happy that I’ve gotten so far in my musical education! (Also i would like to hear your take on the easiest and hardest pieces by Maurice Ravel)
    Amazing video as always!

For the major scale, remember the phrase "why won't he wear white when hot" (whole whole half whole whole half for major scales ) and form minor scales "When hot why won't he wear white (whole, half, whole, whole, half , whole, whole)

Gosh Allysia , I think I just did 23 tips ! You are an excellent teacher and Piano Motivater. I am still playing FRANZ LISZT and FREDERICK CHOPIN on Piano with my Russian Piano Teacher Tatyana Iskandarova at KEELE UNIVERSITY Staffordshire England. Tatyana has a Master's degree in Music / Piano. I have just started the Ossia First Movement of Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No 3 , Opus 30 in D Minor. Sometimes though I get up in the morning what's the point of Practicing and Practising hours at a time, for months at a time. Although I know I have Severe Depression which I take anti depressants for. That's why I love your impressive videos , especially your Music Theory . Something I need to ingrain in my Muscle Memory. Thank you Allysia. I am No Lang Lang or Yuga Wang ? Yet !! Although I taught them everything they know.

Just received an email from the Royal Conservatory of Music asking me to nominate a music teacher who engages in the RCM program. I would nominate Allysia because she helps me keep my interest in piano alive, she has a passion for teaching, encourages me to pursue music history in addition to learning to play, is good-natured/smiley and sometimes gives me a chuckle or two.

  • @boldcautionproductions9203

Allysia, be honest - was there Nyquil involved with this video???
Shuperior Video! You are so committed to sharing your enthusiasm, much appreciated. Folks, can we pass the hat to get Allysia a lavalier mic?
I personally use the dodecahedron of fifths, but there is no accounting for taste.

Hey Allysia, i found the Circle of Fourths easier to learn, i've also learned the 2-5-1s through the circle of fourths from another youtuber, is it just a matter of preference to learn either in fourths or Fifths or should I learn both? Thanks! hope i get a reply!

Man ever since i started getting obsessed with piano/classical music i've been getting ads from SimplyPiano, and I just can't get with it because the shocking examples of people magically learning to play piano in just 23 days made me cringe with how bad their hand form is. :( Like if there's an ad that makes me want to buy their app even less, SimplyPiano's is it. I don't like using this word since it's over used, but it actually really did kinda "trigger" me seeing new students learn to press the keys with absolutely terrible form. And now i'm going off on a tangent LOL. I love the tips, and love your channel in general! I love your enthusiasm with teaching, as well as how you always try to keep things interesting and motivating for your students! I've been learning on my own as an adult (but as a kid I had 6 month piano classes that gave me at least some basics like how your hands are supposed to be curved on top instead of dropping down and flat), but i gotta say, the SimplyPiano ads are freaking me out so much that I'm so paranoid i'm going to end up like that one day because i didn't have a teacher - that I think i really need to look for teachers. Which...is probably not a bad thing, one day i'll think back and thank SimplyPiano for scaring me into getting a teacher.

Piano Meet-Up Group. I have a better idea. Go to the nearest community college or university and ask to play for a piano master class held by a faculty staff member. After playing you will get a lot of advice from students and faculty on how to improve your playing. Take it to heart. They will have much better knowledge on playing and interpreting rather than you or your peers at a Piano Meet-Up Group. If you are only judged by your peers you will never go far.

disagree with #18. It's not about how many pieces you learn in a year. It's about how to play pieces musically (quality over quantity).
