- On Wednesday, Rolland Martin appeared on NBC's Megyn Kelly Today to discuss the talk show host saying using blackface was OK for Halloween.
After a big social media push-back, Kelly apologized and her producers invited Amy Holmes and Roland on the show to discuss her comments and explain to America why dressing up in blackface is wrong.

If people want to know how to discuss it, they should start by spending a good long time listening, that's what I try to do.

We need to restructure the constitution to and the laws to be completely fair especially with the criminal justice system,housing,banking,entertainment.
When I’m asked about how to start a conversation about race. I tell people to LISTEN truly listen. Listen to the whole message and respond in total not just the part of the message.

I am a year old black woman from Camden, New Jersey and so proud of Roland. He's not only informative about black people he's knowledgeable about the things going on in Congress and the world. I love seeing him speaking with public figures in the position of power that have jobs they know nothing about. I would like to know what happened to some of our black men and women because some of them seemed to have forgotten where they came from. Did they forget they were here because of black parents. Some of those black parents lost their lives and were hung on a tree so we could vote and yet many of us are so into ourselves that we are willing to let their death be in vain.

I can't understand why black folks think they have to teach racists about the history of racism. It's like teaching your murderer that the knife they just stuck in your heart most certainly will cause instant death. If anyone knows the history of racism, it's the racist.
It's unfortunate that oppressed have to teach the oppressor, but who else? The narrative will stay the same if no one, specifically 'black folk', don't share their issues. Some oppressors are purposely ignorant, but there are some who are naive to their oppressive actions.

I have a question, and I hope someone would be kind enough to answer it. In America, do you think that white people are so ashamed of the racist history, that they ignore it? That they become defensive out of shame? My husbands grandparents are indigenous Australian, although you can’t tell by the picture. And I think the history of racism in Australia is not spoken about because of shame. If you do mention it, people get defensive. My own blood is mixed with Romani Gypsy. People hate gypsies. There is a huge stigma about it, and stereotypes. They originated from India. I think people know that there is a terrible history of racism and are so unable to defend it....they become defensive. It's not about necessarily having to teach but at the end of the day being able to go in his face and have a conversation does not mean you're letting a person off the hook see what we have to learn is racism is not going anywhere but neither is black people and if we don't start standing up for ourselves in a way that holds people accountable then it's the equivalent to us going silently into the night at the end of the day

Think about the implementation of admitting the willful oppression. The Bible says once the thief is caught he must repay 7 times the value of what he stole. Imagine the wealth gained not only from past slave owners but families, even companies that have benefited from the free labor of slaves. Some would argue that some type of compensation is due to the children of these people.

The greatest thing to happen to Roland Martin was when he left TV One. Being "Nonfiltered" allows him the opportunity to speak truth to power without the fear of reprisal. Finally, people of all races can hear the truth and be educated about American History in the process. Bravo! This is what real discourse looks like and I applaud any show that has open dialogue. As a teacher, I allow my students to continue the discussion via debate. Make no mistake, our young people are aware of the issues and they too are listening! Let's keep the discussion going!
I still need to know why Roland Martin passed of those questions to Donna Brazile, in order to help HRC defeat Bernie Sanders during the primaries in 2016 [questions particularly important to the Black struggle] Cheating the people from receiving the candid response from HRC, we so deserved! I feel, Roland Martin is extremely offensive to Black people, every time he takes time to address these type of issues, but he himself has never addressed his own treasonous behavior, nor has he apologized to us for his own actions!

I was elated when the very 1st show I reviewed was of a gentleman here in Beaumont Tx that has been paralyzed by the police and it truly made my day. This guy is like a little brother/nephew to me. You all put it all in the air. Chance was amazing as well as the host of the show. There were some things stated from observation of the video, that I wasn't aware of and no one really needs, and they deserve to know the truth, really does not need to because Chance gave details that made it very clear to the public exactly what happened. I am Canadian - I have never judged or treated people based on their ethnicity, gender, race, religion or sexual orientation. That said, that doesn't mean that I don't have things to learn. I learned a lot from this piece and it has inspired me to learn more not only in American history but Canadian as well. Thank you for this gift. I know it will impact not only me but my children.
