- InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown is a brand new luxury hotel in downtown Los Angeles. It's the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. It’s located at the more modern and nicer part of the DTLA, and is close to all major attractions(e.g. 15 mins walk to the Staples Center). We stayed here in an executive suite for one weekend nights during our trip to LA in Nov 2019. It's in a different area within DTLA. Its design is more luxurious than Intercontinental.
I stayed at this hotel a couple weeks ago. It is absolutely incredible. I had a corner room on the 37th floor with a great view. I thought they were joking when they told me I had to go to floor 70 to register

I have stayed at this property probably 9 times using my IHG employee rate! $79 per night and free upgrade depending on the front desk agent ❤ corner suites are the ones you wanna go for.

Looks a lovely hotel. What rooms on what floors have the best views? I'm trying to avoid looking at the financial buildings.
In terms of floor, I would say the higher the better. For room type, I am not sure. I suspect different room types probably might have rooms facing different directions. It would be good to request that during the check-in time.
And is the 70th lobby floor open to everyone, so if you're taking a visit to Los Angeles and want to have a go at the views, can you? Also great video!

Had a great stay at hotel the view was spectacular the room was really nice and clean would recommend had view of Hollywood sign and mountains would have been nicer except for smell of weed

For "other hotels in the area", do you mean downtown LA or the LA in general? I feel this hotel should still be at the relatively high end in terms of price within the downtown area (but definitely cheaper than Ritz). But hotels are in general more expensive near the beverly hills or santa monica areas.

How was the traffic getting in / out of downtown? And is it any cheap parking around the hotel?
If there are no event (lakers, concert etc) i think the traffic should be ok. We parked at Athena Parking which is one block away. It's about $20/day

I believe IHG always provides the refundable option when you book.

The rooftop bar is worth visiting as it has a nice vibe and view. The breakfast isn't super impressive (selection is limited), and its highlight is still the view. If you want to spend some time doing exercise, don't miss the hotel gym.
@@ChocoTravelGuide Awesome. They tried to steer me towards a package including breakfast but I wasn’t going to spend an extra $200 a night for 3 people for hotel breakfast. I’m staying 7 nights.
@@BIGHAMZA extra $200/night for 3 people for the breakfast is very expensive. Also don't think you want to lock yourselves in for the same breakfast for a week considering there are so many options in DTLA! Have fun!

Hotel is nice but it sucks that you have to smell marijuana every time you have to use the elevator. Friday thru Sunday evenings, the hotel is filled with outsiders who are just coming to the bars to party. Downtown L.A. has a homeless crisis. Just a few things that you should know about the hotel and location. Wish I had known beforehand. Nice hotel though

I have to agree with this comment. It really smelled of strong weed on Saturday night. Unfortunately the smell permeates the whole hotel. Otherwise this is a beautiful hotel.
