While probably best known for his nuanced depiction of J. R. R. Tolkien's Gandalf, Sir Ian McKellen has a vast acting career on both stage and screen. More recently, Sir Ian has taken on the role of Sherlock Holmes in 2015's "Mr. Holmes".

A paranoid buffon who believed that Finland would join an alliance with Nazi Germany and thus launched a pre-emptive attack on the Finns. However Stalin was so bad at commanding the army that the Finns held their own. The Finns also received help from many nations including Britain. Christopher Lee was a volunteer from Britain and fought alongside the Finns against the Soviets. Ironically the Soviet attack caused the Finns to join up with the Germans, exactly what the Soviets had been trying to prevent.
