That's crap Adam, lots of people thought Andy could do it. Just the noise from AJ fanboys drowned them out. Tony Bellew and Carl Froch must be cutting their wrists about now. Andy has been avoided by most HW's hence his inactivity, so has been stuck with fighting durable gatekeepers. I will say AJ showed alot of grace in defeat. Stats show AJ was not just dropped four times but actually outboxed. Classic example of a very good counter puncher in Joshua, being beaten by a great counter puncher in Ruiz. Now will everyone let go of the body type criticisms of Ruiz - the man can bang and that is real and all that really counts!!!

but like you say, this has been coming for a long time... Whyte could have done it a few years back, AJ was dreadful in that fight after round 2... far worse than in this fight.
and an old Wlad should have done this, but he CHOSE not to KO him. why ill never know, but he had AJ gone for many rounds.

It was not the night for AJ the XChampion(now) but let's recognize to ANDY RUIZ who did a great job, not only taking the opportunity with 2 1/2 months of preparation, but most importantly his MINDSET and BRAVE HEARTH to show up and face his magnificent opponent. ANDY got knockdown by a strong punch on the 3rd round and he showed us he have the stamina, speed and condition of a real champion, he got up and hurt AJ twice, making him feel the punch and speed and from there, AJ began to show respect to Andy Ruiz.
Much respect for AJ even being defeated he showed class.

AJ had/always has had poor defense when under attack. He puts his gloves around his ears like earmuffs and leaves his chin wide open literally every time. A slick boxer would and will and did expose that. You can’t always rely on your KO power.

Deontay Wilder will suffer the same fate like what happened to Anthony Joshua Saturday night. Deontay Wilder doesn't have good foot work and he leaves himself open to getting hit. Tyson Fury was outboxing Deontay Wilder last year up until he got knocked down in the 9th and 12th round. Luis Ortiz hurt Deontay Wilder in the 7th round and nearly knocked him out but the referee gave Wilder extra time to recover which is cheating in my opinion.

AJ's been hurt many times and let off the hook... most notably in the klitschko fight where wlad CHOSE not to finish him, for whatever reason. he was done in the wlad fight for a few rounds, wlad needed to just throw a few shots and finish him and didnt do it. he says he played it safe thinking he wouldn't recover.... but part of me thinks he didnt wanna KO AJ because he liked him, they were good friends.
