      Mal: interestingly enough it's already become something of a subliminal landmark. You get sight of it used in 2 TV dramas airing this week: BBC1's "The Responder" and Ch 4's "The Gathering".

    For those who carp on that this stadium is not interesting enough (probably sorely-tested RS's), here's an interesting factor in all this. This fourth grace has already been noted by film/TV directors and production companies as being worthy of note and a significant subliminal landmark of Liverpool. I happen to have caught it appearing on 2 TV programmes this week. Check out BBC 1's "The Responder" and Ch 4's "The Gathering".

    Nick: Well done on your presentation in this video, getting through quite a few comments and replies, without too much hesitation or deliberation. You're honing your skills.
    Although you did add a fuller collection of replies to the question about the Vehicular routes around site, you didn't look further to the question that Andy Merrick answered where I followed up my response with another which pointed out that they had erected scaffolding on the southern Gate Towers at the weekend, presumably to do just as we posited.
    I thought you knew well by now that the contractor's personnel entrance to the LoR offices and facilities will be closed off, as per the explanation video you did on the East Plaza, back in March.

There is a large overlap with the original condition survey documents, which shouldn't be surprising, although some of the choices or decisions on the restorative work seem surprising to me (e.g. keeping a MDF signboard with a very rough IN painted on it, seriously?). Collectively they seem very much about ensuring longer-term preservation of the whole rather than how to preserve AND yet improve the usage. I'm certainly not surprised at that, even if it seems disappointingly unambitious.

      @davidbadcock2225 Před 21 dnem

      Nigel: there will not be a TV "Gantry". There will be 7 TV Camera Plinths, with the main TV Camera located in the middle of the West Stand on the large wide platform at the front of the Upper Tier. There will be another directly opposite that at the front of the East Stand Upper Tier, which is why when you look there, there is an absence of seats located there and a form of barrier being it. Then there are 3 more located at the highest/back terrace of the South Stand Lower Tier: at the SE-most corner, the centre of the South Stand and at the SW-most corner. the other two will be located at the NW and NE corners directly in front of the Vomitories to the wide platform Accessibility sections halfway up the Lower Tier. Although Nick somehow forgot to use the screenshot of the East Stand, perhaps take a look at his studio video on the 14th December, 2023 after about 6:45 mins in if you want to 'picture it'.

    Hi Nick, neat catch up and info, I've just looked at the official opening design 4 years ago and noticed just how much it is different to the actual design we see at present. Will they still be putting up the brick panels as the team bus is shown by the south stand before it goes under the West stand covering? I guess there will be time possibly for those things to be done, but I sense it looks like they won't be.

      Steven: this has been asked and answered many times. Neither EFC nor LCC will be investing in any other car parks other than the handful of highly-restricted authorised-only spaces on the West Quay. The plans were for the site to be as green and sustainable as possible and LCC are encouraging Public Transport, not promoting any private car parks. However, that is NOT to say that private landowners may consider pop-up's or investing. But what would the financial justification be for just 20-ish match-days per year?

      @@stevenrichardson7882 Steven: valid points but EFC would need very wealthy owners for them to even look beyond the issue of paying off a considerable sum of debt in the short to medium term first, never mind additional non-direct team or club investments. If the War in Ukraine had not happened, then additional investments may have been possible but the immediate effect of that was to increase the building costs by some 50% and turn off the liquid funds tap. EFC have to get their financial house in order first, I'm afraid, which is not exciting but essential if the club is to come out of the tunnel.

      Cormac: definitely not on site. The vehicular movements will be very controlled indeed and NOT a free-for-all. The security team located up in the NW corner will be running the site like an airport flight control tower. To the south/Nelson Dock, BMD will be cut off by fencing until PEEL get their act together on the development, which will then have only pedestrian/cycle lane access at the SW corner. So, the main access will all be from Regent Road. On Match-days a significant stretch of Regent Road will be completely closed off from both the North and South of the site for at least 2 hrs either side of the match. @@DuncTheBlue1878 Dunc: no, I don't. I mean as I say. It's not a typo this time.
      The Site Security Control Room and Hub, which will be the nerve centre, multiple screens etc is to be next to the TV Studio above the MW Pitch Access Tunnel. It's almost the same size as the TV Studio. They will have electronic/digital gadgetry monitoring all and sundry inside and outside of the stadium (which will be of particular interest to Police if needed be).
      There are then 3 other Security satellite facilities:
      1) The first can be found immediately underneath the Site Security Control Room, located on the ground floor just west of the Pitch access Tunnel, nestled in between the "Front of House" and the Main Kitchen. the main purpose there is to supervise all the incomings and outgoings of all the goods and services, waste management, maintenance equipment, emergency vehicles and even the team coaches park up, when necessary. With regard to traffic I'd expect a Traffic-Light system at the NE Corner Security Hut and the West end of the North Stand (there may yet be a gate installed at the NW edge of the mezzanine, incidentally, depending on whether they binned that idea or not) and there will be a form of 'gate' bollards or whatever, controlling access across the "Isolation Bridges" to the West Quay.
      2) The second satellite is located in the NW of the stadium at ground level and is intentionally right next to the Away Fans portal. No need to explain that further, I presume.
      3) The third and final satellite is the Vehicular Security Hut at the NE corner. There is no such facility at the SE corner as it will really only be used sparingly and I presume will have traffic lights, cameras and communication gadgetry located there.
      I am surprised that more thought wasn't given to using the Central Towers in each of the Regent Road Gates but as stated elsewhere, i think that was probably going to be too much for the Heritage Asset stakeholders to wear.

      @@LeeStewart Ok, Lee, I have found one of the replies to someone else, which I am copying across:
      "The short headline is that the gaps are designed to be just so. They are a technical necessity and they will not be visible from the West in due course. If you want to know why and how so and the detail behind it, read on.
      1) If you recall, the stadium is built in part on 'hard' dock quays and walls but also on the in-filled dock itself. As a result the stadium is actually built in the form of a 3x3 matrix (Think of the grid used for Noughts-and-crosses or Tic-tac-toe), with 2 expansion gaps seen on each side of the stadium, where you can see double steels. The central space of the grid is basically the pitch area (as it doesn't have any real weight sitting on it) and you can follow the lines of the expansion gaps out from the corners of the pitch area. Broadly speaking the North and South Stands sit on a much harder base (the old quays) than the West and East Stands (over the dock water basin).
      2) So, where the old dock wall lies is broadly speaking the division between the West and East Stands and the North/South Stands.
      3) The West Terrace and Concourse bridges across both old dock wall and old dock basin, so the underlying construct and foundations differ as well.
      4) The commitment was made to protect the Old Dock Wall Granite Coping Stones and keep them in view. As a consequence it means that either side of the old Dock Walls the foundations comprise dug-in concrete foundations and the vast majority of the diagonal, Terracing side-cheek concrete wall sits on those foundational concrete slabs.
      5) However, the wall can't sit on the old Granite Coping Stones and walls as it would damage them. So, over where the old Granite Coping Stones lie, the top of the Terracing side-cheek wall has to bridge across that structure, effectively a concrete RSJ.
      6) BUT, folk may be forgetting that the Terracing Side-cheek walls are due to have Brick Facades mounted on them. When they fit those, they'll close off the current visible gap.
      7) I don't know how the finish of the gap will be 'beautified' on the inside exactly but now that we can see the metal grid in the 'hole', I can guess that it will be finished off internally with paneling, like a metal stud wall.
      I hope that answers the question suitably."

That cherry-picker is installing the 'coving' onto the struts along the top edge of the window.

      @@davidbadcock2225 Hi David - the plans on the LCC planning portal suggested there would be a 1 way system for certain types of stadium traffic. Clearly on a matchday movement will be time restricted as it is at Goodison. I did not think there would be room behind/under the North Stand for vehicles to pass each other ? Obviously that can be managed but it would certainly potentially add a layer of complexity to traffic management ?

    • @davidbadcock2225
      @davidbadcock2225 Před 21 dnem +1

      @@JayEFC1969 Jay: broadly, you're not wrong. It just comes down to emphasis and categories of movement. The one-way system will only be applicable for some vehicle categories on non-match days. Design and Access Statement Section 6.3 is very clear about it for match days and even for non-match days (Section 6.4.1) most vehicles will be expected to use the NE route to exit. That is partly the reason for the 'passing-place'/queueing bay just inside the site between the NE Gate and the Security Hut and yes, the Security Team absed in the NW corner of the stadium with the Security Hut at the NE entrance, will have to be 'on their game' at all times. You could probably say that it's only the Refuse and Recycling Vehicles that will be expected to use the Anti-clockwise route regularly.

    Hell nick doing a smashing job but I'm sorry to hark on about toilet facilities outside the ground IE fans plaza but surely there has to be as there will be about 20,000 fans or thereabouts drinking and eating outside the stadium it's not rocket science or has this been an oversight I for one don't want to see fans peeing against the walls or trees.

      There will be toilet facilities introduced just for match days (as they have at the Goodison fan zone).
      The club want fans to enter the stadium early though, to enjoy the views from the stadium and spend more on food and drink. That’s why we’re moving - match day revenue is currently the 2nd lowest in the league because of our very old ground.

      @davidbadcock2225 Před 22 dny +1

      John: I guess you didn't twig that from Nick's studio video of the explanation of the East Plaza back in March.
      You can't park outside Everton Two, Liverpool One either. Visiting the club shop will not be a legitimate reason for getting parking access. As discussed and shown in Nick's studio video explanation of the East Plaza, there may be some non-match day parking at the SE corner for non-match day events. There is some potential short-stay parking near the security hut at the NE corner (between the Gates, the security hut and the bollards on the Plaza) but the basic idea of that area is to permit vehicle turning and some potential queueing off highway. I expect some Accessibility space requirements could be met in that area. There are some permanent Accessibility spaces on the West Quay at all times.
