Garraka is Kinda Lame... But How Can He Be Scarier?

My only complaint about Garraka is how anyone frozen by him isn’t dead or suffering from necrosis at the very least.
I definitely agree with you that he should've had more screen time where he uses the Death Chill and his army of the undead. However, they did a good job explaining why he was sealed into the orb in the first place and even made the brass infusion into a proton pack work too.
I agree as well. Feel like the whole freezing New York thing should've happened around 20 minutes into the movie.
I enjoyed seeing Frozen Empire last week, pretty fun and all. Though I kinda wish Garraka appeared earlier like 20-30 minutes into the film to freeze up New York so we can see the army of the undead fully in action.
I enjoyed the new movie and liked Garraka. I have two ideas for the film which could make it better.
1. The part when New York starts freezing up, there should be a scene where Garraka is summoning up the snow/ice storm in the middle of the water.
2. I think the final battle scene should be extended. My idea is once Garraka frees the ghost army. Garraka leaves the firehouse and goes to one of the rivers and forms an iced throne. Garraka sits and watches the ghosts flying free. Back at the firehouse, Melody sees everyone frozen. She lights the match for Nadeem and he uses his fire power to unfreeze everyone. Everyone decides on a plan to stop Garraka. The plan is to trap a few ghosts to lure Garraka to his defeated. Few of them captured a few of the ghost and they ride in Ecto1 up to where Garraka is sitting at. They teased Garraka that they captured few of his army only to get him mad. Garraka chases them through the streets with ice spears but fails to stop them. Garraka arrives at the firehouse only to be ambush. Podcast gets the dronetrap but doesn't work. And thats where the rest of the movie plays.

I was so disappointed with how they handled Garraka. He could've been such a cool villain but were just left with that. There are so many plot holes and just confusing things in this movie but ill never understand why the "Death" chill doesn't kill people. If it cant kill people then whats the sense of hurry?

Anyway, the problem with the movie was the pacing, multiple characters and multiple subplots. They could’ve gotten more with Garraka if they toned down the movie a bit of those, and Garraka could have had the same build up as Vigo did in the second film. And I can’t believe how inept Ray was when it came to his lack of knowledge with Garraka that he needs to go to a third party for knowledge when it came to Patton Oswald’s character in the library. In the old days they didn’t need Patton’s character, since Ray and Egon would just look up the current ghosts they were dealing with by researching Tobin’s Spirit Guide.
2nd movie is the worse

The same argument can be used with Gozer in both the first and third film. In the beginning they just research her before they actually face off against her in the climax of the movie. I wouldn’t say revenge as more of a power grab as the king feared, then again, Garraka could be so evilly vindictive that he’s taking revenge on all mankind just for a few human beings imprisoning him.

@@tyronleung5276 I’m tired of the obligatory genderless labels for Gozer. Ivo Shandor also called Gozer a goddess in Afterlife, and the Ghostbusters also referred to Gozer with female pronouns in the Afterlife movie as well.
Really liked Garraka. At least did a bit more than Gozer, if anything.Wish he had appeared earlier if anything, but the mythology behind him was really cool and I was just waiting for that fancy brass ball to break. His first appearance in person made me get chills(sorry.)

I like the villain mostly because he is better the ghostbusters 2 villain, or the 2016 villain. I like the movie to me it felt like ghostbusters, it’s not perfect no movie is, but it was good in my opinion. One last thing to me ghostbusters the video game is ghostbusters 3, so to me this movie is ghostbusters 5.
This movie should've went a hard pg 13 like transformers dark of the moon or avatar the last airbender on netflix.
What was the point of patton oswald exposition character Dr. hurbert zuwartzki he didnt add anything to the comedy we have Ray Stanz who owns an occult book shop and Tobins Spirit guide and pod cast for that exposition and research montage, why did we need to revisit the nyc library for a nostagic goggle Eleanor twitty the Gray lady trip if she was supposed to have been caught some time in the first movie or later on after ghostbusters 2 & Ghostbusters afterlife?
In the last movie Afterlife exposition stated they caught all the ghost and ran out of business because there were no more ghost after GB2, how sway if slimer was still around hangging out in the firehouse as their mascot and pet, the positively charged slime that has ghost in it from their adventure with vigo and Ghozer managed to respawn and how they catch all the ghost if theres plenty of cryptids and ghost from around the world we have had yet to see in the live action movies. How can they cherry pick shit from the cartoon but never utilize any of its ghost or characters they disbanded because they didnt believe in igon prophecy that ghozer whould come back to reek havoc?

Fair points but I wouldn't say he's a bad villain. He does some stuff his actions are important he's far from passive(sorta yeah he doesn't do much himself but his influence and mere existence freezes the city and controls ghosts). I'd say he's a 6/10 villain. His design is reallly cool and freezing the city is neat he just doesn't do much throughout. They probably should've leaned into the scaring people to death thing though and made him more present. I did like the movie quite a bit though. Maybe the way Garrka is beaten by the ghostbusters is because they cannot be scared by him and they somehow beat him that way.
