      Rachelle met George Duke around 1990. She was introduced to him by the late Capitol Records executive Bruce Lundvall. Rachelle was 14 years old in 1975.

    She grew up learning to mimic everything around here including birds, cars, firetrucks etc everything literally it's a natural Skill plus she learned from the absolute best like Phyllis Hyman and she's an astute student. She's been singing since a child mimicking instruments it's incredible, I hope the music industry here in the US appreciate her more as we do in the black community cause man people are missing out like hell!

    This was awesome! Please please keep doing all the videos you can find of Rachelle. She is literally my favourite singer ever and I have listened to all the video and song by her I could find on CZcams (including those that have been deleted over the years). Her video singing at Yoshi's club, or any or her Montreux Jazz festival, or her performances in Italy would be awesome! This performance of Waiting I always come back to. Rachelle forever my wifu.

    Thank you guys for this amazing review of my favorite singer. I've seen RF perform close to 100 times through out her career. RF never sings a song the same way twice. RF gives her band total freedom. RF is also a great keyboard player. All of her recordings were produced by George Duke. Fun fact, when RF was growing up she lived near a fire department. When ever the fire alarm went off; she would try to match the pitch and frequency of the sound.

    Thank you for bringing Rachelle Ferrell to your audience. I bought this album in 1992 and this lady’s vocal talent is incomparable. The studio album is phenomenal, but live is insane. Not surprised at the crowd size in Europe. Too bad we didn’t appreciate in the states. 6 octave range and whistle range compared to Minnie Riperton

    Guys, I just came across this reaction video of yours. I really appreciated how you both approached the musicianship of the band, as well as Rachelle Ferrell. I really was prepared to judge you as Garth and Wayne. The guy in the black shirt is the only person on all of these reaction videos to mention circular breathing.

    @BEL Development
    The studio version of this song is more like late night smooth r&b. Her debut album is self titled Rachelle Ferrell (1992 overseas) not until 1995 in the US. Second album is My First Instrument, think 'Waiting' is on this album.
    She always changes the arrangements, every show. Saw her twice within 3 days at the same venue and she sang the songs differently. Audiences can NEVER sing along 😂 not as if they could anyhow.
    She also has those musical conversations with each musician at every performance.

    This is Jazz Improv at its finest. A few other singers can do some of this, but it is absolutely different. I'll send you a few to hear. Rachelle is the only one I know who has the breath control she has. Nor do they use it in the same way.

  • @blackBrainySmurf
    @blackBrainySmurf Před 2 lety +1

    It's one song! But the real song is 8 minutes so she closes with it to jazz up and show off the band before closing shows!

      Thank youuuu 🙏 My background is in live production, so I guess my ‘gift’ is looking for the parts that support the big scenes, notes, events etc. for example when someone is hitting a giant super star note, what is the ride cymbal and bass doing to support it? Makes it fun to find all the gifts hiding around the stage 😁
      Glad you enjoyed!!
