    Loved your vlog guys! Happy anniversary! :) We loved that you took the time to enjoy Tromso, at your own pace, not rushing through the usual tourist things. We wish you many similar beautiful moments in the future!

      What a fabulous trip for your Anniversary 🥂 Thank you for sharing, I have always wanted to see the Aurora Borealis. It was simply breathtaking, I think if I had seen it in person there would have been joy dancing😊 Tromso has so much to see, its on the bucket list for 2024/5 . We have a major trip to New Zealand/Sydney next year. Happy Anniversay to you both 🎉

      Thank you Lesley. The aurora was amazing. The human eye processes images so quickly that the green appears white when looking at the aurora, but sometimes it is strong enough to see the red & purplish tints. Wishing you a fabulous trip.💕

    hello!
    enjoyed much watching your vlog 😊thanks for sharing.
    Were you able to see the aurora from your hotel. where exactly did you see the full view and how, via northern lights tour or just by yourself.
    were planning also to go there early next yr, 1st time. hope you could give us some helpful tips, recommendations.
    Thank you in advance.

      Hi, thank you for watching my video, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Usually you can't see the aurora from a city as the light pollution makes it difficult. It is best to go on a guided tour as the tour guides keep track of where the aurora is visible and take you to the best location for that night. Of course there is no guarantee that the lights will be visible & it is also worth knowing that the lights are mainly white, sometimes with red, as our eyes can't see the green. Setting your camera aperture to f4 allows more light in & shows the green. In Tromso we used Best Arctic for our trip and in Iceland a few years ago we used Grey Line. Both were excellent trips. Hope you are lucky & see the aurora, it is quite magical.

    I would like to do this in mid or late February. Does anyone know if I can see these red-green lights too? And did you look for someone to show you lights or did you find it yourself?

    • @TheSnailGarden
      @TheSnailGarden  Před 6 měsíci

      Hi, we went with a guide because you need to travel away from any light pollution & the guide knows the best places to go if the lights are showing. You see the green as white because the human eye/brain processes too quickly, a camera can be set slower. The red is sometimes visible to the naked eye. Good luck.

    we are planning a trip this year October 1st week. is it the right time to see northern lights? the lights are always white for naked eye irrespective of the month?

    • @TheSnailGarden
      @TheSnailGarden  Před měsícem

      October is a good month to see the lights if they appear. Nature decides when, so there is no guarantee. The sun was very active in May this year & the lights were bright in the South of England, so you never know when you may see them. Your best chance of seeing the lights is to go on a guided tour, as the guides know the best places to go, away from the light pollution.
      Basically, the green is visible as white to the naked eye as our brains process the image our eyes see too quickly. Setting the camera/phone camera to long exposure allows us to see the green on photos. I would also recommend a tripod to avoid blurry photos. However you can sometimes see the reds & purples, when they are strong enough, with your eyes.
      Hope you get to see the aurora.

    I am so excited to find your Vlogtober because my husband and I will celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and the 84th birthday of my mother in-law with a trip to Tromso in Norway in 2024. May I ask which dates in October that you were in Tromso 2023? Thanks and have a blessed year.
