  • In the early days of the Blitz, Churchill faced the greatest test of his life. He had to dig deep into the reservoir of his character to project calmness, strength. He had to keep his mind free of anxiety and distraction to remain decisive. He did all this publicly as the war drew ever closer!
This is a full review of the Conway Stewart Churchill Honey Noire Lever-Fill Fountain Pen mixed with history and music. Is this the best pen I have ever reviewed? Can a fountain pen help to keep you focused and remind you of lessons of the past? Find out and don't miss the emotional ending.

Fantastic video! You have become quite the filmographer! My mom was a fan of Winston Churchill, so I may have to get myself a Conway Stewart Churchill in her honor! Picking up an Esterbrook today from Pen Chalet as a reward to myself for getting a Performance Award from work. It will be the most expensive pen in my collection (to date)! I'm getting the Gold Rush pen (because my husband is a gold prospector.) As you can see, I apply sentiment to my pen selections--that way I can justify my purchases because every pen has a "story" behind why I purchased it!

Hi Mara! I love this! That is a wonderful way to purchase pens. It tempers the purchase by tying it to something extremely sentimental. Wonderful! Thanks for the kind words. This video means so much to me. Thanks for following along with this channel. I look forward to your feedback.

Excellent, the weave of history and your pen review. Very nicely done - more, please!
It's interesting to consider things we think of as long past may not be so far back. I'm not old, at least as far as my own discerning observation, and I remember when Churchill passed away. I was in third grade.
It was only 42 years from the Battle of the Alamo to the first telephones in Texas. The Wright Brothers flew twenty five years after that, and within another two years Einstein developed Special Relativity.
We live at the unfolding end of tremendous human energy. History is always relevant and every day is a grand opportunity.

This pen presentation is the best I've ever seen! Truly wonderful work Hemingway! I bought, last year 2 Churchil Heritage nad both with their OM nibs. They are so perfect and an incredible pleasure to write with that my Montblancs and Visconti Homo Sapiens have seen less paper in the past year. And dont think I don't like them but the Winston Churchill Heritage keep attracting my hand like magnets! I have been waiting for this presentation since you mentioned it and YES you have nailed it like a pro! And as I write this I see my "Victory at all costs" next to me on the table... and I'm smiling! Oh and by the way, I HATE cartridge converter pens as I find this filling system totally deficient for the way I use my pens and have sworn, after selling the few I had, that I would never buy one again.. uummm that's untill I discovered these Conway Stewart.. I must say to my defense that they are the only CCs I have, but don't regret anything about them and actually they have kinda won me back to that simple filling system lolll so never say never! So that's all for my confession ;-)

Oh noooooo! Now I need THIS pen! Let me share why it would be special to me (I think you’ll appreciate the reason). My father was a navigator in the RAF and was specially selected to navigate flights flying Churchill during WWII. Dad disclosed that the aircraft was cold, uncomfortable, and they could use no lights. Navigation relied heavily on the stars and the journey was usually quite treacherous. Upon landing, the crew would share a drink of brandy (I believe that was the liquor) and a cigar with Sir Winston. Of course, at the time these details could never be discussed. Very special and I am so proud of my father playing a part in the safe transport of Churchill. I will check if this pen is still available but I doubt it…
    Thanks for another great video!

As a collector of mostly vintage pens, I appreciated this. I won't be buying it, but it's nice to see the lever filler isn't gone. They have their limitations, but I appreciate that they are easily repaired. And the finish on this pen is quite nice. I'm not familiar with British pens, so I don't know much about Conway Stewart. I appreciated your history of the company and the vintage film as well. Here in the US, it's hard to imagine the horror that the British lived through as their nation was steadily bombed. I've read that there were places in the 1970s that still had not been cleaned up from the war.

Hi Gail! Thank you so much for the kind comments. I am so glad that you enjoyed it. So Caustic, by my definition, is anything corrosive. I have had inks that degrade pen sacs. For some, the Ph is posted. Water I believe is 7. Something too base or too acidic could be problematic. Some inks, J Herbin, I believe are made of natural dyes and gentler. Quink, Waterman Blue, all very gentle. I call them “Good Guy” inks because they have never hurt anyone. I hope this helps!

You are spot on about the gold nibs having pleasant feedback when using them. When ordering the pen, I had correspondence with the Managing Director on several items. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏Applause Wow, beautiful beautiful, I think you are in the wrong profession.
That was really beautiful work, a real documentary / film and an ode to Winston alias "Pug" as his wife Clementine liked to call him "my sweet pug". And when he wrote a letter to his wife, he always drew an animated picture of a "Pug" a Pug dog. They also used that logo on the fountain pen of Conway Stewart Churchill Heritage 'Action This Day'.
But honestly your pen looks fantastic.
As you already know I have the series 58 idiana Jones version, and indeed also with a Lever-fill.
The nibs from CS are indeed very well grinded and put a nice amount of ink on the paper that's for sure.
Only with the Lever-fill I have some reservations, when I have filled the pen you always have to wait until the rubber sac is filled, but after that I still have the phenomenon that the lever is a bit loose and rattling.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong... I'd love to hear about it.
Do you also have that problem?
Otherwise, these are well-built fountain pens that will last a lifetime and beyond.

You do have to wait a few seconds for a lever fill to fill. That is true for any of them. The downside of those too is that you only know they break when they don’t fill. I have one ink that dissolves rubber sacs. I would forget and go through them. Whoops!
Anyway, your IJ pen is awesome. A very nice choice, my friend.

Sadly, the sac failed on my lever filler pen after 10 years of occasional use. The nib is near as a nib can get to perfect. I did my nib swap with the legend of Conway Stewart, Mary Bourke pre financial issues and the company being purchased by the current owners....perhaps why when identifying the pen sac issue the current company customer service was not offering to re sac and fix the pen. Odd the sac pens built in the 1940's would last decades and with new latex durable sacs can last another 40-50 years. Why did my Conway Stewart fail so soon? Great question. If the cartridge converter version of the pen is available buy it and if you find one second hand given my lever fill experience the converter version of this pen is worth more money not less. Cheers, Mags

Hello Rob, I heard that was a huge issue with the earlier versions of this pen, so you are not alone. It is annoying and unacceptable. They are very cheap to have fixed. Sadly, I lost the place I used to go. Bromfield Pens was purchased by Appelboom and the person retired. I need to find a new one. So lever files are relatively cheap to service.
